Brian Bromberg Carvin Model Part 2

It's gorgeous. Did you request a black bridge instead of gold like the rest of the hardware, or does the piezo only come with a black bridge?

It is a stunning bass.

You are correct, it comes with a black bridge if you order the piezo option. And I must admit, I do not like this at all. I ended up buying the gold piezo bridge plate from Hipshot, and transferring the piezo saddles on to it.

The piezo only comes with a fully black bridge (plate and saddles) despite what hardware color choice you make.

If you opt for a non-piezo Hipshot bridge and select gold hardware, the bridge plate will be black but the saddles will be gold, as well as the knobs and tuners.

I believe this was brought up somewhere in Part 1 of this thread. I also confirmed this with Carvin over the phone.

It's a cost cutting move and I don't like it.

That's beautiful! And IMO the black bridge works on this bass.

I prefer the black bridge !

I respect that you do.

You should get a gold bridge if you order gold hardware...period. At the very least, a gold bridge plate and black saddles. Imagine the uproar Fender would get if they gave you a black bridge on a instrument equipped with gold hardware. We're paying extra for gold hardware, are we not? As much as I love Carvin (and I have about 8 of 'em) I refuse to give them a "free pass" on this issue.

Right, for models with the Hipshot bridge the saddles are the only part that match the rest of the hardware. That's not the case for the SB and B50/50 that use a different bridge, which is fully color coordinated.

I'm surprised that Carvin only has all black piezo bridges. I hadn't heard that piece of info before.

Anyway, I like the black bridge, but I could see why it would bug people who want all the hardware to match.

That is absolutely a stunner! On my '09 BB75, all the hardware is gold except for the black bridge baseplate; the saddles are gold. It looks great to me, it makes the gold bits stand out. If it isn't what you wanted though, I can certainly understand your annoyance with the black hardware.

I do kind of wonder why Carvin does this, now that you mention it. Hipshot sells the entire thing in gold color. But apparently for only $35 more than a regular old black one:

And the new saddle-locking bridge like the one on my Bromberg is also available fully gold. A little bit of a head scratcher.

To me, the color scheme is aesthetically pleasing.

Follow the black fretboard down to black PU’s and then a black bridge.
The gold knobs on the lower wing seem to balance well with the gold tuning keys on the upper side of the headstock, which appear just enough off-centerline so as not to be confused with the ‘black’ theme running down the middle (thanks in part of course to the black, pointed truss rod cover).

Works for me… and probably more than you wanted to know… :-)

Yeah ! You said everything !

I have no problems with black bridges...none. But when I order the gold parts option, I prefer my bridge to be gold. Am I asking for too much here? Honestly, can there ever be too much gold?

I have nothing against gold things with some black parts ! LOL !
