@goldenboy12981 Sure, guess i replied with my own crushed dreams in mind. And yeah, pedals and mains pre are different animals. Luckily got a more than fair bit of joy from Josh's drops, so i can't think atm of anything else than a QS (for someone else), a Sunray, Power Stage or an Archetype's boost. But the tube DI or the compressor, or any next release may add some to that list.

On books, I haven't sold much. Too much hassle for the money I could get from them. A lot of the books are history studies, or my old source material for stuff I did back in the day. Like a series of technology books from 100 years ago. Not that much money in them maybe. Some novels too naturally.
I don't know. I hardly ever buy new books, so there's not that much money in them anyway. That's what 40 years of buying used and hardly never selling anything looks like lol
I can only speak on the ETDI… it adds a nice toob juiciness to what is already going on. Really nice to have 1/4” effected out in addition to the xlr out. Not sure why anyone would use the pass thru but it’s there. The tube out just sounds great. Size is also nice, I have one mounted underneath a temple audio pedalboard, it’s similar in height to a lot of power supplies.

I appreciate your input. I know the Shaw has that "fat" switch which really fattens things probably more than any other, based on what I've read and heard on demos. I know the Shaw also offers more extras too, such as running pedals off of it. I need to listen to an ETDI demo again.
The Shaw tube injection is a tube preamp with an active EQ vs just an active tube DI box. which is what the ETDI is.
Yup, it has a 9V out. More feature rich and configurable, and the price reflects that obviously. Granted I've never tried one but the demos do sound pretty good.
Consoled myself for missing out on the Silver Deluxe by getting a 2 disc vinyl copy of Sleep's Dopesmoker. Picked up a Horse Lords lp too.
Yes, I get that, but just looking at "warmth" and "tubey-ness" as the biggest factor. Obviously there's a major cost difference too. I don't want breakup or distortion, just fatness and warmth. Those extras on the Shaw are tempting. I can't seem to find an ETDI demo.
Cool. I understand your consolation, as I'm thinking of consoling myself with an ETDI or Shaw. If another Khan came along, I'd grab it first.
Ditto other than the fact I’ve written off the SD. Had one for about five minutes. One of the only Broughtons that didn’t work for me.
I haven't been able to find one either. If you're just looking for the tubey-ness, you'll definitely get that with the ETDI but there are plenty of other pedals that will add that factor(some with a DI, some without) as well. The Sushi Box Space Heater, the Finally(DI w/ a Lightning Boy transformer output), Night Owl Edison, EBS valvedrive...top ones I can think of right now.
I've considered all of those others too. To be honest, it's a tough choice, overwhelming really.
If you don't need a DI, the Space Heater would be your best choice really. And for the price range, you can't beat it for the tube vibe and warming things up.
Night Owl Edison is really good if you dont need anything besides the 1/4” out (and gain knob)

I had one for a while and liked it well enough, but never really used it that frequently. It was never my first choice and I could never really get a sound out of it that I love-loved.
I've been listening to a lot of Circles Around The Sun lately though, and lusting after that clean and clear Alembic/Fender stack sound. It's probably just a phase.
What I like about the ETDI in reading the specs is the 12AU7 vs. the 12AX7 in the Space Heater and other boxes.
