I've got a JJX-5 for sale. Bart pups, stock pre, beautiful flamed pickguard, nice hard shell case. I priced it too high in the FS thread (click link in my sig for pix), but you can have it for $550 shipped CONUS. PM me if interested.

Hey guys, Tom, Kevin,Andy and crew are going to be at Chuck Levins Music store on Thursday the 15th. They are taking new Brutes with them. If you live in the MD/DC area and want a Brute contact the Chuck Levins store and place your order. I wonder if my Boy Malcolm is going to be there????

I hear that Chuck Levins now has 5 Brutes in stock and Kevin is taking 4 more over there next week.

I played a few of the regular and single-cut Brutes at Chuck Levin's yesterday....so glad I did!! A couple of them had some QC issues with the coil selector switch, but other than that, I love these basses.

My only gripe is a personal one, as I'd like to have a mid band of EQ to adjust. They are a little heavier than I expected, but the balance is PERFECT....I literally rested the bass on my leg, took my hands off, and let it sit. Straight as an arrow, no neck dive or anything like that!!

I can't believe more companies do not offer a single cut production model, and I can't believe the Brutes are built as well as they are. I hope Kevin sells millions of these guitars!!

Does anyone have a tobacco sunburst SC 5 in stock, I will buy it Monday if you do, seriously...PM me

One of the new singe cuts with high end pups and pre would be DOPE!!!! And they are well balanced and a little heavy. For the price outstanding work for a bolt on SC IMO. Mine is still stock but for a 3 way coil splitter in mine single/series/single. The stock pups and pre are still more than adequate and sound rather good.

Yeah, I don't really have a problem with the pups at all....a 3 way switch would be cool....I bet a Pope or East preamp would sound vicious in one!

If you swapped pups what would you use? I would go for the US Bart's... To make it as close to the US brubakers as possible!

Bart Classic series and 4.6 pre. Or Bart classic series and aggie OBP3.

+1 on the Bart system.

There is something magical that happens with a Brubaker/Bart combo when you pull the mid frequency knob to the 250 Hz setting and give it a twist. Deep and punchy . . . how a bass is supposed to sound. :D :cool: I think the sweet spot is the 250 Hz. The low mid center on the aggie is 400 Hz, my Delano Sonar on my JJX-5 is at 300 Hz (so, it's closer, but you can still hear the difference). I'm sure you could get same/similar results with an East or Pope, but the Bart pre makes it soooo simple to get there. Just my 2 cents worth, IMHO, etc, etc . . .

The new Tobacco Burst Single Cuts are just so damn Pretty. There's a Pic on the brubaker basses FB page. Looks a lot better than mine :-(

I'm definitely a fan of the Bart package, especially after playing Brad and Malcom's basses. I like Malcom's a little better, but he has custom single coils in a humbucker shell. I suppose it's not quite as versatile as Brad's Green Monster or the Red Beast, but you can't beat that great single coil tone!

I don't remember off hand what the mid eq freq. settings are for the Pope pre, but I absolutely LOVE it! I had one installed in an el cheapo Brice bass, paired with some Tesla pups...the cheap bass really sounded good! I took the pre out and put it in my Cirrus.....I'm never changing it back to the original Peavey Cirrus pre!! It's more expensive than the Bart pre, but I think an A/B test would prove the Pope to be worth the price.

+1 to that. I saw the 4-string version at Chuck Levin's, and I realized I wanted one in the 5 string version. The natural is pretty too, and I would have bought that one, but there's something about that tobacco sunburst....

If they ever make a 6 string version, I'll end up with two Brutes (maybe then I can do that Bart/Pope preamp battle lol!)

I've been saying they should do a 6 string Brute for awhile now. Last I heard was something along the line of - - - - Not at this time, but we're not ruling it out for the future. I think they want to get the regular and SC's consistently perfect from China, then add the headless model . . . I'm hoping this is still in the plans, is it Tom????? . . . establish good sales and reliability/reputation, then maybe/hopefully a 6'r?????
