Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

I've been saying they should do a 6 string Brute for awhile now. Last I heard was something along the line of - - - - Not at this time, but we're not ruling it out for the future. I think they want to get the regular and SC's consistently perfect from China, then add the headless model . . . I'm hoping this is still in the plans, if it Tom????? . . . establish good sales and reliability/reputation, then maybe/hopefully a 6'r?????

Well I will gladly test out the prototype 6er hen they get around to it......whaddaya say Tom? Maybe a Talkbass special order lol....

Just ordered an MJX in blueburst. How is the bridge on these compared to the Hipshot A style on the US ones? I already know I want to swap out for black hardware - not sure if I should powder coat the stock bridge or get a Hipshot A for it.

The new Brutes look SICK! I love my "old" one :p Anyway, for those that may be interested in buying one, I thought i'd post another Brute pic in action. I'm not a small guy, the bodies tend to be on the small side, but they are very well balanced.

Here is the pic from FB and Bass Direct in the UK:

And here is what the originals/demos/philly's look like:

I think some of the difference could be attributed to lighting and camera effect (check out some of the other pics from the Bass Direct - UK's FB page and some of the Fenders and Spectors and such look pretty spectacular too). Maybe they photoshop/color-enhance their photos a bit??? Guess we'll find out soon enough if/when people start getting their orders and posting pics ASAP . . . hint, HINT. :D

Kevin has been working with the factory to help them achieve "Brubakery" finishes within reason and ability. Each lot has been a bit different. (Sorry Philly) This latest batch shows how they are beginning to master it a bit better.

Now, the picture is flawless, and there is a touch of variation in the batches (should be, they are hand painted by different operators) but the latest batch clearly has some improvement.

The playability, however is the same, and Philly's bass even had Kevin's personal hands on and through it.

Back to work here for me....

Wow. A completely different approach to a tobacco burst. The new one looks convincingly like a US finish. Very cool. Can't wait to see how these evolve as the factory gets more settled into production! Any idea if they will start to add new color choices over time, ala the MTD and Lakland imports?

The headless is still on the table. A new proto was made and we are working with the factory on it (that is how the matte black color emerged on the SC) but it will be a bit before it sees production. As you can imagine, working the neck and headstock design in not quite as easy as one would imagine. In addition, we still are discussing final bridge and headpiece choices.

So, just go by a Single Cut or MJX for now....

In the two images of the burst singlecuts the newer looks like it maybe three pieces and the "wings" were nicely equally cut on either side of the center piece giving almost the appearance of a neck thru or at least hiding the seams underneath the B and G. The older burst look like it could be two or possibly three but one of the seams is about one third down near the top of the pickup and it would really turn me off.. If you look at the pics of the transparent and natural singlecut finishes on the Bass Direct site the seams look clean and evenly distributed. Was this something that was considered with the newer builds or will it be hit or miss ? Of course I could care less on the solid painted versions.
Cant wait till we see some 4 single cuts in the states..
