Cool. It' been years since I've had a Bart equipt bass and I've changed all my gear since then so maybe I'll give them another shot. The Nordy's look really interesting as well.

I've reshaped necks, leveled frets, painted, assembled and customized basses so I'm not above doing that just want to go as easy of route as possible.

If I order one I'm starting to lean towards just leaving it stock till summer and then doing custom pickguard and a pair of Aguilar soapbars. Really want a high end 5 with soapbars just can't swing it right now.

I heard Kevin Walkers Rainbow Bass and it had two Aggie DCB5-2's and a Bart Pre (NTMB) with two mid switches. Absolutely Killin. Thinking of making that upgrade to my MJX-5. The DCB's have dual Ceramic Bars and they growl, bite and zing like a MF.

I'm looking to do something different too. I like the Bart system I put in my Brute, and it was definitely an improvement over the stock system, but I'm still missing something. It might just be my imagination....

The other weird thing is, I don't feel that the B string is as solid as I'd like, i.e. like the B on my Cirrus. The tone I get from it is almost compressed-like, characterized by a boomy-ness. It was like this when I bought the bass, so I don't think it's an electronics thing. If I can find a Lakland setup I might try that, or maybe a Nordstrand setup.

I really want to get a neck made for my Brute...All maple, satin black back...I wonder how much that would cost lol?....

Is this a SC or an MJX-5? I've found that a .130 B string is quite different on a Brute than let's say a .125. I like the .130 better. Brutes are 34' and your Curris is 35 :-). Brutes and Cirrus are two different classes of axes. I'm finding that some folks compare their Brutes to a higher end instrument and well the Brutes are import Budget Basses. If you want to comapare your Cirrus to a Brubaker I'd say compare if to a USA made Brubaker as opposed to even an upgraded brute. If Kevin made you a custom neck for your Brute and he would I'd start at 1k for the neck.

This an SC, and honestly I kniw not to compare the two basses.... I'm comparing scale length though. I really believe it makes a difference. I'm going to try a. 130 on the Brute and see what I get.

1k for a Brubaker neck isn't bad lol. Option wise I think I'd be simple. I don't want a melted purple heart and wenge fingerboard...

Well changed my mind once again for the Pups for my upgrade. Going with a custom set of Reed James J/MM Pups. This will be mated to a Bart NTMB Pre. He came through for me and invoiced me. I won't have to customize or buy a new PG and the replacements will drop right in. Still should be a signifcant upgrade to stock Pups and Pre.

I wonder if Kevin could just replace the fretboard???? Or possibly another guy.

Man you got me cracking up. (but that bass was uuuuugggggggllyy) You need to get Kevin to build you a bass it seems. His USA's are 34 5/8 " however. I'm sure he could build you whatever you wanted.

I've tried Rotosounds, DRs, D'addario, EB, Musicians Gear, GHS Boomers etc. Had a friend who kept bugging me to try Dunlops. Dunlops? I was like aren't they cheap azz strings? Well let me tell you something. They have a Brand New String out called Super Bright. They come in SS and Nickel. I tried a set of their Super Bright Stainless Steels on my Brubaker KXB-5 Custom and Played at two events with them. I'm here to tell you I found my new string. I'm a Slapper and when I finished playing with one guy who plays for Smokie Robinson, Pattied LaBelle, Maysia, etc he said I'm going to call you slapping-stein!!! The next week my band played a gig. I had my Brubaker KXB-5 Custom, Puma 500 Bass Head and Eden 2x12 cab. Man I was killin the whole gig. My tone, slap and finger style were BANGING. The band kept looking at me the whole night just smiling at me. Tone is very subjective for us bass players, but if you're in the mood to try a different string and you're a slapper spend the dough one time to check out a set of the Dunlop Super Bright SS joints. They also make them in Nickel for those who feel SS is too rough. I looked at the packaging and it says right on the box, formulated or made for Slapper. This is true. These are a Slappers delight. Dunlop Super Brights are going on all my axes.
