Getting the pick guard off was interesting. The overhang was very tight on it and holding it in place. It's off though and has several coats of TruOil on the pick guard. It's shining up very well and the flame is popping even more than before.
WOW on the neck pocket! Big +1 on that to Brubaker. I'd not seen what they had going on under there. Interesting and makes 'sense'. Is some shimming going on under the neck that would likely panic some of those that think shimming a neck is heresy, but I'm mucho fine with it.
Being picky... and while I had it apart I checked the frets as the D string had an area that was buzzing just a tad under my heavier handed attack than your more gentler style Donovan. Findings is that I think I'll do a light fret leveling and recrown before putting it back together. The frets aren't as consistent as my Big Al 5's were coming from the factory, but again, that's being VERY picky. It's complete live-able as it came from you.
It plays great and sounds great. The fret work will only be because I know how to do it myself, and almost always end up tweaking something on my basses fret work wise, and it's convenient where the strings are off it and the pickguards off, etc.
Quite pleased with it. Didn't want to yank it apart first night I had it, but I have some time over the holidays with no gigs and it's a convenient time.
