Building My First fEarful!

Matched set 15/6/1. First picture attached of my cuts.
There was a LOT more extra wood than I anticipated.. most of everything I needed was on the top of the table.

Started cutting out the baffles and other holes yesterday. Might start gluing today!

Started the glue up with the port section to the bottom. I'm comfortable with Titebond, so that is what I'm using.
I marked out the sections, used two square cauls to line them up, glued and clamped. After about ten minutes I knocked the pieces out with a mallet and checked for square.
I used a cross-clamp to pull into square at that point.
For some reason, the bottom is about 1/16" shorter (7/16") than it should be so my back panel will not line up when I get to it. Might need to do some creative chiseling. Cross that bridge later!

From my experience, although Titebond is a great adhesive, it doesn't fill gaps like PL. You're probably going to need to caulk the seams to prevent leaks.

I was already planning on doing something like that. Chose Titebond over PL just because it is very readily available on the woodshop I frequent.

Wood glue will be fine, I've built hundreds of box with it. Then I seal the seams with it. If you have gaps big enough to need PL, you should probably check your sawing skills. Even then, mix a little sawdust with the wood glue for an effective putty.

You can get PL at pretty much any Home Depot and it's very inexpensive. Personally, I prefer Titebond by a wide margin though.

I use Titebond too . I start with gluing the top and bottom to the sides and sometimes the back at the same time

too . Then do the inside braces and then the baffle . I do like to use PL for the back and always use PL for the baffle .

Assembled the cabinet frames today. Went pretty straightforward. Used brad nails to tack the pieces together after applying glue. There are some gaps which I used clamps to pull together. Overall it is very square and looks halfway decent. One of the shelves was almost a half inch low (bowed down) so I stuck some plywood in the port to bring it up to 3".
Overall the most difficult part so far was fighting with the plywood since it's started to move since it was cut last week.

Got some of the bracing in. Not entirely confident since I only had half a bowling ball for pressure but I'm pretty sure the bond is plenty fine.
These are not entirely square but I will try to fix this when I attach the upper girdle since the mid speaker chamber will need a little more attention.
Also need to remember to mirror everything from this point forward or it will not be a good time!

Also I tried test fitting the baffles and they're pretty snug. Still need to cut the 15" speaker out.

Decent progress today. Assembled the two mid chambers and installed one to include the internal bracing. Second will go in tomorrow.
Nothing too tough here, just used clamps to align and keep things in place while the glue dried. Some pieces tried to bend as well and the clamps helped there. (You can see I used a clamp to bring up one side of the mid chamber). Overall the mid box is very square.

Got the second mid chamber and supports installed yesterday. All that's really left is the baffle and trim pieces.
Thinking of painting it with Duratex and leaving a natural baffle. Also looking to find a way to mask the right port and make it look less off-center.

Maybe a nice veneer for the baffle? The cab in my avatar has Zebrawood on it.

Build is not dead!
Just been waiting on parts and hardware.
Seems like everyone is backorder right now. Working with Leland at Speaker Hardware and he is very helpful!

Did the roundover but the bit slipped for one section. Went over it with a palm sander and it's just about unnoticeable.
