i have to agree with most of your posts... but the death penalty (at least here in the states) is flawed

you have to kill someone HUMANELY... numb the spot in the arm, sanitize the needle, and hive a drug cocktail that makes him literally just go to sleep forever.

what should be done is the chair, gas, shootings, hangings, hell, even the guillotine or burning at the steak

Other than the Guillotine and burning at the stake, all of those are legal manners of execution in the USA - although I don't believe any states actually use a firing squad anymore.

people need to see the death penalty as not the easy way out, but the most horrible death imaginable... then people would live in fear on death row, not just knowing that, ok, sometime here im gonna be lead into a room and be put down in a more humane manner than my dog

Actually a less human manner - the three drug cocktail used for lethal injection in the US (Sodium thiopental, pancuronium bromide, potassium chloride) used to be used for putting animals down, but the use of pancuronium bromide was deemed inhumane by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) in connection with euthanizing animals.

Good point. In both cases though, changing the system that way will only be more productive if there is a willingness in the student/criminal to change. So the system is only as effective as the person it is trying to work with.

There is also an increased ability to continue incarcerating those who show no inclination to change.

Heck - in Michigan the average murderer serves 15 years. Susan Lefevre got a 10-20 year sentence for small scale heroin dealing.

How is a guy who brutally stabbed and beheaded an innocent passenger for no apparent reason a defenseless man?

Is he going to give him a weapon and allow him to fight back during his capital punishment? Because if not, that is by definition, a defenseless man.

I dig that people are trying to understand why this person did what they did... but really what good is going to come from it? This is an extremely isolated event. You can't safeguard against things like this...

What I've never been able to rationalize is this: If an animal kills someone, what do we do with it? Kill it, of course. If a person, capable of rational thought and not just base instinct kills someone, people scream that their life should be spared. It makes no sense to me.

me neither. tigers are critically endangered creatures, with the very real possibility that they will all be extinct outside of zoos during the lifetimes of some of us, and yet if one -attacks- a human, even if that human taunted them or teased them or was just stupid, the creatures are killed.

people, on the other hand, that number in the billions and are nearly as tenacious as cockroachs, we gotta keep each and every one of them alive, regardless of what they do. (and no, i'm not joking. do i look like i'm joking?).

The thought that we can't make prisoners work because it violates their constitutional rights is absurd. Most of them ( not all) are a tax on society both in and out of jail. There should be mandatory community service and mandatory labor. Meals shouldn't be free. If I have to pay for lunch at work so should they....no work, no food.

The idea that capital punishment is unconstitutional is silly.In that resect, keeping a person incarcerated for life should be unconstitutional. You're in jail because of a conscious decision...no more rights for you!

Some peoples existence should have ended in a tube sock.Humans are the absolute least specific species when it comes to mating ( seriously, it's a fact). We are like cockroaches. It doesn't matter if we're sickly, our mates are sickly...we'll breed. Future generations become weaker and more prone to disease.Animals still reproduce to ensure stronger future generations through selective mating. Only the strong survive. Who's smarter??

the last bit i agree with (good thing showing it is that korn video for evolution... its really good... if you dont like korn, just turn the sound off )

however, there are some crimes that shouldnt be punished for as harshly as they are... like possession of drugs or any of the laws regarding minors with alcohol... its not that bad of a crime that you deserve death for... or accidental death... there is a line that must be drawn here as far as punishment fitting the case, and the lines are messed up IMHO... some (like the beheading) should be worse and some should be more lenient
