I'm not of an age or physical disposition where its even remotely cumbersome to play a really heavy bass for hours, but at the same time, why the hell would I go out of my way to do so? Its by no means a priority when I buy, but lightweight basses are definitely favourable.

More power to ya, bruh! I ain't doin' it. My basses are all under 10lbs and I use a micro rig-o-doom. I'm happy and my back and shoulders are happy!Man up I fell off a cliff and my back injury has me in pain 24-7 I do what need to do,
be it with The Gibson Ripper, Fender P, SX P no crying just do it (sorry Nike)

And the caveat is, when they get my age (52) or older, they'll be complaining about their heavy gear! when I was a teenager, I absolutely hated moving around an Acoustic Bass Bin or Peavey 2x15 cab weighing well over 100lbs! In the 80's I switched to a combo amp (Peavey TNT) which still weighed about 80lbs! Nah bruh! Those days are over.I really don't understand the pointless machismo of putting yourself through uneccessary pain....maybe thats just me though. If I had any sort of back/shoulder problems, you better believe I'd be doing what DWBass does. Theres are enough lightweight, great sounding basses out there that I never need to compromise tone for it.
When the micro amp phase hits guitar amps, get back to me. It seems only rockers use big guitar rigs anyways. Most cats I know use small combos.Same thing holds true with amps. Lot's of praise for little micro amps that weigh 3 or 4 pounds (less than the bass itself) while big "heavy" tube amps and hybrids or rack heads are falling out of favor. Funny thing is, I never hear guitar players complaining about how much their tube amps weigh. Man up!

Err, no, it isn't. It's supposed to SOUND heavy. There is no need for it to actually BE heavy. I'm guessing you own a rather heavy bass or two, amirite? It's a *&^%&* bass guitar sonny jim, it's suppose to be heavy!
