Buzzard's Bass - DO NOT to business with him!!!

This is on his FAQ page at: Invalid Link Removed

"Questioning me about anything using text via your phone: If you cannot get to a computer with a monitor screen to click on a link to view any item asking me via your phone isn't helping me so I am not going to be very pleased about you not doing your due diligence. Need to hear that another way~? If you are so lazy that you cannot do the clicking and get the information yourself then I am not here for your time because all you are doing is wasting mine. Nine out of ten people don't even provide me the courtesy of a response after I've emailed them all the information I have concerning their questions. A simple thank you from you goes a long way . . ."

If you run a business, don't associate the word lazy with customers. Jokingly or not, this gentleman really has few business skills. I was appalled by this thread, and decided I would check out the site for myself. Even without seeing this thread, the above quote would make me steer clear of him in the first place! Customers come first, the CORE RULE of any successful business!

It could be worse, at least he sells real goods. I jumped on probably TOO good of a deal on an expensive tent on E-Bay last week with about 7 other people, he had 15 available, and I'm starting to suspect it's someone taking out a personal loan from the E-Bay/Paypal system.

Not too worried, there is no tracking number. If it isn't here by Friday a complaint will put that money right back in my account, I've got 7 other buyers on my side and PP/Ebay will review the previous complaints and waste no time with a decision.

Anyone filing a complaint against someone like this will likely have no issues, you won't be the first or last and they do notice.

So Ive been working on this bass but ive had problems with the electronics so naturally I look online for possible solutions. In my search I came across buzzards bass shop I then noticed that the shop was apparently located in Plymouth Massachusetts, since that is near where I live I wanted to check it out. So I plug the adress into my gps and head on my way. Note the website clearly states: Open 24/7 "If you're unable to drop by my shop for a visit, the next best thing is to send your bass to Buzzard's, even if for nothing more than a simple tune-up, an electronics upgrade, or a complete overhaul including an entirely new finish." So I was under the impression that there was an actually a shop that I would be able to walk into and talk to the guy about the problem with my bass. To my dismay I arrived at a beat down house with a poopy old car in the drive. I thought I had the wrong house at first but then this pissed off old guy came out to great me. He expressed to me that I was not welcome at his house, but let me come in anyway to have a look at my bass. I walked in to his mother in bathrobe at this point I wanted to get the hell out of there. The guy was a total jerk while I was there like I was invading his personal space by coming to his home. Was I supposed assume that Buzzards Bass Shop was actually some weirdo living at his moms house? No especially since the website clearly states that if you are unable to drop by his SHOP for a visit to send your bass in. Just a weird guy.

I thought there was either a spot on his website or somewhere either in this thread or another where he said specifically not to come to his house. Either way, his whole website is misleading. I especially love this gem:

"I don't care who built your bass. It can be a brand new boutique bass, fresh out of the box, and I guarantee I'll find something about it that needs a look."

Which to me says "I'll find something I can charge you money for." The guy sounds like a mechanic.

I've run into "businesses" like this before. Google Earth Street View is a great asset when weeding out the posers from the pros. Buzzard must be the King of the Posers!
I had been looking for a blood red Warwick Vampyre Ltd bass for years and then ran across one on Buzzards website. Was ready to pull the trigger but I did a google earth check first and was not happy with what I saw, so I did a quick search for Buzzards on TB and was shocked at the horror stories. I put the purchase plan on hold and two tears later finally found a new one at a REAL dealer. I'm so glad I fought the urge to send Buzz my hard earned money! And here's the final outcome that I am so very pleased with...

That's about a $6000 lost sale that his business style cost him.

I almost ordered some parts from this tool for my bass build. I probably dodged a bullet there. Fortunately while the Internet allows psychopaths like this to operate businesses, it also provides a way for others to sound the alarm in a very public way.

All business aspects aside, this individual is clearly unstable and in need of professional help. Death threats are not an appropriate response in this or any business exchange. If he is a danger to himself or others, perhaps the gentleman's local authorities should get involved.
