Buzzard's Bass - DO NOT to business with him!!!

The BBB is not worth the effort anymore. All they can do these days is wag a finger at them and say "Now don't do it again."
But Yelp reviews sure pull a lot of weight - at least here in the San Francisco Bay Area - getting a bunch of bad Yelp reviews can kill a business here. If everyone who had a bad experience or a death threat signed into Yelp and created a review for his business - that clues in potential new customers what they can expect. And of course all the people with great experiences can post their positive review there too.

I would say the potential of death threats would be a major turnoff for me....what's astonishing though is nothing on the ebay rating will clue you in on the kind of seller you're dealing with. I know there are loopholes that sellers can use in the system, perhaps ebay needs to add another seller rating metrics in there for the number of dispute issues within the past year.

created a Yelp entry ... pop in and leave a review:
Invalid Link Removed

I haven't had any first hand dealings - but Yelp wouldn't let me create the entry without leaving a review so I left a short, vague review. Once someone who has had first hand experience leaves a real review I can remove mine.

op, I just re-read the ebay posting. Unfortunately it is mentioned on the listing that the buyer pays for the return shipping (in other words, don't expect a return label) and the return policy involving the return of the part to the seller so as to file a claim with UPS. While I agree his behavior is really uncalled for and akin to that of a bully, you generally agreed to the terms of the purchase and the return policy according to these conditions. Just wanted to give you this info . Best of luck. Hope it goes well.
Snapshot is from the original listing.

And I offered to do so in the begining but as the emails progressed I looked into this matter. No matter what he states on the listing if an item is not as described or damaged in shipment new eBay policy is that seller is responsible for return shipment.

Wow. Just wow. Sorry you are going through this, Jon. I am always amazed at how some of these shops go into and stay in business with service like this. I do appreciate you posting this as you just steered me clear of ever doing business with this guy. Good luck.

In spite of negative rants to the contrary, I have found eBay and PayPal have honored their terms and stood by me as a buyer several times.

One case was a vintage Lionel train engine that the seller shipped diagonally in a box that was too small. I photographed the box upon arrival (the damage was apparent) then opened the box and confirmed it was damaged. I attempted to contact the big time seller and his response was I should deal with USPS for the claim. I opened a case with eBay and forty days later had a complete refund. The buyer never contacted me for the return.

Another was having bought a Otterbox, only to discover it was counterfeit. I filed a complaint with documentation to support my conclusion, within hours I had a full refund and shortly after that the big time seller was shut down. Apparently he had other complaints in feedback of selling counterfeit and others had opened claims with eBay.

The most bizarre was having won and item and paid for it; I was surprised to get a refund in PayPay with a message from eBay that they refunded the money because they closed the seller's account because of suspected criminal fraud. He has great feedback and ridiculously low prices; but, his supply chain may have been too hot to handle.

All that said, you have filed your claim. Now, advise eBay that you want to return the item to the seller; but, the seller has not provide a return shipping label and is telling you that return shipping is on you which is a violation of eBat T&Cs. They will take it from there. Once the claim is open, all correspondence should be via eBay and follow eBay's claim instructions. You may be surprised to get a full refund and a notice the case has been closed.

As both a buyer and a seller on eBay; I can tell you eBay usually stands with the buyer. Damaged in shipment policy is fairly clear. When in doubt, eBay's policy trumps the seller's stated terms and conditions.

I hope your taking periodic screenshots of his website. He could remove that stuff at anytime.

One thing I noticed on his site is he only excepts payments in his own name rather than a legal business name (LLC, LLP, INC). That would likely indicate he operates as a sole proprietor and all his personal and business assets are liable to a suit if found he caused wrong in his dealings. Point is, if he really has (had) a lawyer, they'd would not let him operate like that in the best interest of their client. But then again, he probably doesn't listen to his lawyer anyway. If I was his lawyer, I would not return his calls just hear him rant. Not, for any amount of money.

I noticed he stopped selling 10 screw P-Bass pickguards from WD, stating "too many mistakes, and returns". Hmmmmm.
He stopped selling WD pickguards in June. I had ordered one and got this email after a week with a refund:
I apologize but I cannot fulfill your order as I am no longer dealing with WD Music. They did not ship my order containing your pickguard.

Several years ago, I bought a handful of small parts from the guy. Nothing expensive or elaborate. And I eventually got my stuff. No drama.

But even then, the word was already out: If you do business with this guy, you take your chances. Don't spend any money with him that you can't afford to lose. Looks like nothing has changed since then: He's still abusing customers, still engaging in shady business practices.

Based on what I've read thus far, I'd have to conclude that "Mr. Buzzard" has some serious psychological issues. At the very least, he is completely unsuited temparamentally for dealing with customers in a retail environment.

I certainly will never buy from him again... :rollno:

Yeah this guy is completely out of his mind. This past week, concurrent with JonKim's experience, I've had trouble with the most innocuous of online transactions (returning a few parts totaling $41 and change.) Brian has just been FLIPPING OUT! Obscenity-laced tirades, sinister oaths, and name calling are the order of the day with this ham 'n eggah. I'm not sweating it too much as it's just a couple of twenties and Paypal seems to have my back, but damn, that boy should be avoided at all costs.

A google search of his name shows convictions for B & E and aggravated assault on a disabled 60 yo so yeah, proceed with caution!
