Cab Impulse Response Megathread

Folks on this thread - I recently bought a Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe and because of it's inbuilt cab simulation stupidly sold my Cabzone X. I now miss it.

I would buy a new one, but things in Russia right now are not great.

Therefore my question - what options are there out their as a IR loader in pedal form that share these attributes;

1. 9 or 18 volt power requirement
2. XLR out and 1/4 inch unaffected out
3. User definable 3rd party IR slots

I will also state that I'm aware there are preamp pedals that have the functionality I'm after. I just dont need a full preamp, just an IR loader with 1/4 inch for amp, XLR out for desk/DAW.

Other than the Shiftline product I can also think of the Hotone IR Omni. What others are there?

Darkglass Element is great, but it might be overkill for what you need. It's also a headphone amp (with a bluetooth input for practicing along to a track), USB audio interface, and it can be used on the speaker output of an amp. You can load 5 IRs via usb or bluetooth and save 50 IRs in the app.

Thanks everyone.

I think the Nux Solid Studio is on my horizon. The Darkglass Element will do what I need but is a little expensive and you are correct when you state "overkill". To be honest the Solid Studio has elements I don't need (Mic choice, poweramp choice) but it looks a little more "solid" (no pun intended) from the only other pedal that shares the features I need (Hotone Omni IR).

All said and done if I wasn't iffy about goings-on in Russia/Ukraine right now I would be done and grab another Cabzone X/Cabzone Bass. They don't seem to come up for sale very often second hand so I'm limited to what I can pick up in Australia new. The Solid Studio looks like it will get the job done for me.

I've had my eyes on the Flamma, any notes on build quality, sound quality, usefulness of the high and low cuts etc.?

It seems perfectly solid build-wise. I haven't done exhaustive testing but it works as claimed, even if there are a few spelling mistakes in the software and the website.

The latency is very low compared to some of the competition:

and can be adjusted between L&R to give a stereo effect.

I've been running it into the Aux In of two Roland XL guitar amps (8" speakers, "near-FRFR" apparently) at practice volumes and getting interesting results with guitar and bass. I need to also try with the effects return of my Fender Rumble Studio 40 when I find the time.

There's a good demo of the pedal and software here:

Tried a guitar cab IR for bass. My NUX Solid Studio has only guitar cabs as stock IRs and while I some of them sound great with the bass (Marshall 1960 for example) they are a bit on the thin side of the low frequency department.
I still wanted to try a Hiwatt 4x12" cab IR since
it has been used by many of my favourite players (Entwistle, Wetton etc.) and if I'm not mistaken old Hiwatt 4x12" cabs were the same for guitar and bass (like their amps too). Bought a pack from Bonkers and found out it works mighty fine. I recorded a small clip, using a single mic file captured with a Sennheiser 441.
No preamp and the NUX had the power amp switched off.

So I ended up getting the NUX Melvin Lee Davis preamp/IR pedal and I'm really digging the sounds of the IR that it comes with. I'm using the MLD preamp and the Markbass 4x10 IR.

With these IR pedals, you can upload IR files onto it. Where do I get them? Is there a place you can download or buy them? And what type of file? Is it a .wav or .doc or .ir?

Here it is:

here’s a used cabzone if you want to call to see if they can ship to Australia.

Hey y'all. Just picked up a Cab M+ the other day... I've been avoiding buying any new gear for years (my G.A.S. is crippling lol), but finally broke down. Really happy with the Two Notes gear so far! I like to keep computer stuff out of my jamming/playing as much as possible, and this piece of kit is perfect. I'm mostly a headphone warrior, but the idea of being able to use this as a DI at a gig is appealing.

Right now I'm playing with the included bass cabs, and picked up a few extras from the two notes site... (BassFruit, BlueBass15, Bommel Peggy 810 Mothership, Doom mooD, Dual BW15, TheBassClub, and Voice V125). I think with the included ones and those, I now have 3 DynIR's emulating an Ampeg 8x10 lol.

Any absolute MUST HAVE DynIR's y'all would suggest? Any style. And what about just regular IR wav files? Any kicking around I should look at?

Got my sonicake IR yesterday. Like it a lot so far. Got the IR's from shiftline. Any budget friendly recommendations for other cabs?

Honestly I downloaded over 100GB of IRs, in the end I deleted them all, very few are more than a gimmick.

The ones from two notes are very usable with the added flexibility (used them mostly for guitar though), but they are proprietary unfortunately :(
Back in the days you could also "test drive" all of them before you had to buy anything, that was a super cool feature, no idea whether it's still available though.

I feel ya. I actually like what I've gotten already, at a quick play through. Interested to see how they work with the sound guy when I play live. I feel they are much more natural, nuanced, and less "bass" heavy than the stock IR on the unit. so I feel like it will play well in a mix for live sound.

Wow... And I thought I'D gone through a big collection of IRs. My folder's only ~6GB.

I keep on repeating myself :D

Celestion IR's:
proprietary Bergantino and their own Celestion drivers

This is where I ended up as well. After all my IR explorations, I never truly vibed with any of them until I finally caved and got the Berg IR collection.

5sg.
