Cab Impulse Response Megathread

Can anyone advise on creating a custom IR? Here's my situation: I have a number of impulse responses that I use with my IR loader and work well for me. I'm using FRFR cabs in my setup. When I set up my effects for synth bass parts for my band I'd like to be able to ONLY implement a high pass and low pass filter (set to my desired slope and frequencies) with no additional eq or coloration . I realize there are filter pedals available but it'd be nice to have a loaded preset on my IR pedal to switch to as needed without more gear. I know there's a way to do this but the method eludes me and my searches haven't been all that useful.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Aw, nuts! I missed your response here somehow, Doc! Thanks for the tip. I did pick up Volume 1 last night. Any suggestions on a starting point for a Hartke 1x15 setting from your "Alu15 1x15" files that will give me a "Sheehan-esque" tone when using the Atomic Bass Box? (Choice vs HypeReal vs Single Mic?) There are so many options, and it takes some time to try them one by one in the Bass Box. I did try a few last night, and I like what I'm hearing thus far. I'm thinking the "tube amp" preamp setting of the Bass Box combined with one of your Hartke cab sims, with the Suncoast BC3xl oughta get me pretty darn close. I don't have any desktop recording software with which to audition IR's, which would be a lot faster. Which, now that I mention it, maybe I should look into that.

Try the 414 HypeReal mix

Thanks so much! I’ll give it a shot. Does it matter what file size one uses? I can’t find information in the Atomic manual regarding the preferred file size for IR’s.
The 48 KHz 24 bit files are what Bass Box likes to see if I'm not mistaken.

500ms gets truncated in their loader, but they seem to sound best in the unit.

Thank you for the tips. There are some absolutely great sounds in there. And I haven't even tapped the Acoustic files yet. If anyone's curious, here are my favorite Dr. Bonkers Hartke IRs thus far. Some sound a bit more "Sheehan-esque" to my ears (very mid-heavy and hollow, for lack of a better description) and will be a lot of fun to bedroom jam and maybe cover band jam with, while some are sounds that I might be more likely to use because they seem to have a bit more low end retention. (As much as I love Sheehan's tone, low end is something that I often find lacking in it.):

Note: The "1" and "1a" designations are something I added to the file names to differentiate these IRs from the others in the rather extensive list as my favorites. "1a" being my top choice(s).

Some of you may have read this, but Redwirez has officially announced that they will no longer be providing Impulse Responses, and are closing up shop:

Redwirez Audio

Though the final shutdown date is a year away, they'll still offer support and various updates until then.
Existing customers are also being given the opportunity to download ALL REDWIREZ PRODUCTS at no cost by entering your email address that you provided when purchasing from Redwirez. There is no purchase option for new customers.

I'm sorry to see Redwirez depart the scene, and they were among the first to offer 3rd party cab impulses at an incredibly reasonable price. It's a tough market to cash in on, and a lot of work to make quality IR libraries.

Well that's really unfortunate. Thank you for the tip.

Kicking myself for not buying these before.

Really sorry to hear this. Great products. I wonder why he isn't trying to sell or open source even Mix3IR?

@jimfist - thanks for the heads up. Sorry to see them disappear.
I bought the BigBox Bass IR pack - now I get the mix3IR as free download.
It's really genereous to give freebies to existing customers.
Still, sorry to see them go.

Yeah, it's unique that Redwirez didn't make a last push with everything at fire sale prices.
Happy that they're doing their customers a solid with all the freebies, but sorry to see them go.
Mix3IR is a huge bonus, not only for the cab blending, but for the API/Neve EQ and the Reverb modules.
I downloaded Mix3IR but haven't had a chance to check it out. Will need time to go down that rabbit hole.
