No, I don't either. It's much better to set an example by insulting someone with language that doesn't include expletives or name calling. (like JT did yesterday)Totally. I used to be a public school teacher. That’s why I said children instead of minors. But even as a point of law (corrupting a minor) I wouldn’t curse around middle or high school kids even if they were.

Amongst your adult friends? Sure. I’d agree with that. But in a public place where small children could be present? No way. That should never be OK.
I use profanity with my friends that also use it. No problem. But I will refrain when strangers, kids, or seniors are present. I will even admonish my friends if they do it under those circumstances.
My then three-year old son (now 27) called me a "basswhole" after getting upset about some perceived slight. I could barely keep a straight face. When my son was 3-4, when he was really mad, he would make up the most imaginable curses. Not cursing as in swearing. But like old style curses. "I hope your hands get so heavy they break and fall off so you can never pick me up again!!!" It's really amazing that a 3yo could curse more creatively than your average 20-something.
That is why I stay away from some of the threads that are absolutely run by individuals who are above reproach and treat anyone with a different opinion like dirt. I do like it a lot when moderators shut down mean people. Opinion is one thing. No one owns a thread. Treating people mean on Talkbass is really a thing. Some get away with it continually. I don't get it at all.
After eight pages, I'm hoping you know by now. But just in case...Or is this wrong?
Yeah, and if I may add: The trigger about religion is set very, very low...You will find this to be one of the "cleaner" forums. Stay away from politics and religion. Don't use the "high ranking" bad language.
Don’t you mean sarcasm or wit?I’m with you dude. Even though it is human nature to counter it by sinking to their level and burning ‘em right back.
It’s hard to take the high road sometimes. Even sarcasm and wit have a feeling of superiority to them sometimes.
