And that's why I don't use the term guitard.

Seinfeld has told offensive jokes? When?Didn't some people from universities try it stop Bill Maher and Seinfeld from speaking at said universities, because their jokes were offensive?
where does it stop.
Okay. We're clearly different. I've never liked controversial art solely because it is controversial. I always felt that the artist needed that edge to stand out because their art wasn't good enough to do it on its own. It seems you feel differently.
Regardless, my point was that an author doesn't need to use offensive terminology in their writing to tell their story, unless of course they need to in order to portray a character as a bigot, or whatever.
I'm all for villains in movies, otherwise there'd be no story...
I'm just stating that you can still keep your individuality without using offensive terminology.

There's another thing to keep in mind here. Sure, some things that were acceptable 50 years ago are offensive today, but the opposite is also true. James Joyce's Ulysses, Allen Ginsberg's Howl, Mark Twain's Huck Finn, and just about everything Henry Miller ever wrote were banned in their day. Now they're all considered our greatest works of art.
Some 18 wheel trucks use a device called a brake retarder, why is that not considered offensive?
Do facts make you angry? I am confused

OP, however, has made a very very simple request. Stop using the word. You don't have to listen. Him asking you to stop doesn't affect you in any way.
Right?? When I think of TalkBass, I think of you.. Gimme a break..Yep. I don't think "guitard" should be banned. I certainly don't expect everyone to honor my request. I just wanted to bring some attention to the potential hurtfulness of it. I'm not really even offended. Again, more like embarrassed. I'm a member of Talkbass and, as such, I feel the use of the word "guitard" reflects on me.
I only say my country because of the many people here who are not from the USA.It ain't YOUR country. It's as much MY country as it is yours. And I think being a jerk just because you have freedom of speech is what's ruining the country.
First of all, if you refer to a person of "diminished mental capacity" as "********". It's NOT an insult. They ARE. Again, it's not an accepted term anymore, but that's a different subject. It's when you call someone that's NOT disabled "********" that is hurtful. You are saying "you and/or your behavior is as undesirable as an intellectually disabled person".
Right?? When I think of TalkBass, I think of you.. Gimme a break..
