OF COURSE the word "r*tard" has use and meaning that is not hurtful. Calling a person one is not among them.
I have met a few VOC-DOUCHE BAGS, meaning vocalist, HEE HEEEE!Trust me, I know some AWFUL guitarists. Too loud, too busy, wrong scale-playing, obnoxious stage-wankers.
Some folks on TB refer to ALL guitarists EVERY time using the derogatory term in question. And it's an offensive term just by its nature. It's used to condemn guitarists to inferiority and it references a very real disability. Not nice. It's like when you think something is awful and you call it "gay". Not kind to gay people.
Let's call the truly awful guitarists "gui-douche bags" or something.

Yep. I don't think "guitard" should be banned. I certainly don't expect everyone to honor my request. I just wanted to bring some attention to the potential hurtfulness of it. I'm not really even offended. Again, more like embarrassed. I'm a member of Talkbass and, as such, I feel the use of the word "guitard" reflects on me.
You go right ahead and ignore whatever you want that is your perspective. I will go ahead and voice my opinion. That is the funny thing about the anti-PC crowd their argument is basically saying "stop voicing your opinion"
I only say my country because of the many people here who are not from the USA.
I don't care what side of the debate you're on...that was funny!Right?? When I think of TalkBass, I think of you.. Gimme a break..
Interesting...which tribe are you from?I only say my country because of the many people here who are not from the USA.
I've never used the taboo phrase. But, people tell me I can't?? Screw you, I can say what I want. That's one of the main reasons I'm an artist. It just goes to show, not a lot of artists here, mostly cover bands and gear heads.. I'm out.
He said "people," not "people's ancestors."Interesting...which tribe are you from?
+1 I call them g-wankers.Trust me, I know some AWFUL guitarists. Too loud, too busy, wrong scale-playing, obnoxious stage-wankers.
But that's offensive to wankers!+1 I call them g-wankers.
