Random Basser said:Smoking is definitely a waste, I did it myself for a while, but honestly, this is absolutely uncalled-for:
Whatever happened to personal responsibility? My dad was born in 1952, and started smoking somewhere in his 20s. He quit 11 years ago. I know that some in the older generations (20s-50s) simply did not have the kind of information available that we have, but, at some point, people need to be able to take control of their own life and health and STOP going after the people who provide their addictions.

This is the second worst day of my life. There are more tests to be done to determine the course of treatment and how long my dad will live.![]()
If you are offended by people who get on soapboxes and preach about not smoking, leave now........Right now I am filled with anger, confusion, deep sadness, and other things. I hate the guy who invented cigarettes....I hate the people who make cigarettes.....I hate people who sell cigarettes....I hate the person who introduced my dad to cigarettes. I hate them all. I hate the fact that some stupid piece of paper with leaves in it is going to strike down and kill my father. I hate the fact that my dad has tried several times to quit, only to go back a month or so later.
For the love of God.....if you smoke.......
STOP
NOW
Don't turn into my dad. This is horrible. So many people love my dad, and now he is going to die at the hands of some stupid cigarette.
Thanks for reading. I'll be leaning on my TB buddies alot over the next few days and weeks. Sure I have my fleshly family, but you guys/gals are important to me too.

Random Basser said:These products require consumers to buy them. They do not simply weed themselves into one's pocket. I did smoke for a year, and I dropped it. It is simply a matter of will power and ability to abandon harmful habits. I care enough about myself and those around me to kick a dumb habit that'd cause me and mine unnecessary pain.
I did read the thread, and I've told you that I know from my father's example it's easily possible to keep crap like this from happening. I can also tell you that I too lost my uncle 10 years ago to the cancer sticks.
