Carbon fiber fretless four-stringer

I made a template for the pickup using pdf from Delano website. I routed the cavity with Dremel in a router base. Multiple cuts and slow but worked fine. I had a vacuum hose to suck all the dust away.
I thickened epoxy a bit with cellulose thickener, tinted it black and painted the cavity walls. I’m gluing small wood inserts under pickup screws next.
Just picked up this from Post office. Had to check the pickup cavity. It’s perfect!
Race Horse.
We always played "Rock Band, Race Horse or Adult Film" with this stuff.
I love it when that happens, even though it's usually not very relevant in an electric instrument.

I drilled 17mm holes for the pickup screw inserts.
Plugs are drilled with 15mm plug drill from 9mm plywood.
Thickened and tinted epoxy was used to glue the plugs. I used plywood inserts because Delano supplied the pickup with wood screws.
It will , just make sure you have the correct vacuum line , spiral will work but there is 1 that works a heck of a lot better. I'll take a pic of it when I go back to work . Also you use spray adhesive to hold the plies in place for the i fusion . I did wet lay up in the 80's , mostly pre preg in the aerospace industry and at the place I am at now , been doing a lot of infusion . It has a lot of waste but creates a really nice laminate.

Done. Bit of sanding, wiping the bass with degreaser and it’s clearcoat time!
It looks so good that I’m probably skipping the burst. Two small runs but they will sand out easily. I’m letting the clear cure for a couple of days before wetsanding.
Yesterday I sanded the clearcoat, airbrushed the burst and sprayed some more clearcoats. Burst makes the edges look more finished so I went with it. Today I'm planning to wet sand the bass with 1000, 2000 and 4000 before polishing. Pics coming later today.
Well one more spraying session ahead. There are few spots that I don't dare to sand. I don't want to risk for sand thru the clear and starting all over again. I have to go and buy some more 2k clear and spray a few more coats.
Some more coats of clear sprayed. I’ll let it cure for two days. It’s easy this time as I have coming two days full booked for other things.
I cleaned up the garage from spraying and took some pics. Just light sanding with maybe 4000 grit to remove the few dust nibs and polishing. No runs this time.
The name of the hose is "MTI" hose . Its expensive but it works flawless.It is a spiral vacuum line but has a membrane that doesnt allow resin in. You would need " flow media ( allows resin to flow thru the laminate under the bag ), you already have peel ply . Also here is a pic of the spray adhesive to hold the plies together .
