Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 2!

Yeah me too,but.....At first I wasnt sure I liked them at all.The more I dig through this thread the more I like them.Im planning on trying one and Ive never owned a Carvin.The soundclips Ive heard have been great!

Anybody here use flatwounds on their SB5000?

I use them on my fretless. Between those and the SB neck profile, I can pretty much fly all over the fretboard and have little calising on my fingers even after 3 hours jam sessions.

I took my SB5000 to the Hollywood Carvin store today to have the pups changed from creme to black, just for aesthetic purposes. Moesha, the Hollywood store guy, changed them for no charge and threw in a set of straplocks. Gotta thank Carvin for taking care of their customers.

My SB5001 should be done mid Feb. I'm going to try D'addario Chrome flats on it and plan to post a comparison video (A/B with nickel rounds).

Yeah, well - as I've stated - I played a SB5000, then within a few hours played a buddy of mines brand new Metro - The SB played better. And sounded better.

Heresy, I know. Heaven forfend that a US made bass was better than a Sadowsky Metro...

I took my SB4000 to rehearsal last night (for the first time) just to see how it would fit in the mix. It killed!! Cut through and sounded great.
