Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 5!

Yeah this bass sounds great passive. Once I tweak my amp a little to accept the passive config, it sounds just like my other active SB's. It made me realize the active preamp is just nice to have really.
I play mine passive most of the time also, but the preamp is great and nice to have in the bag of tricks.
This is one of the things that I really, really like about the SB5000. So many active basses always sound 'active', and switching into passive often means you give up passive tone control. I am finding that you can get great, old-school type tones from the preamp using the combo of separate Volumes, T/B and tone, without having to give up tone control when running straight passive. It's a powerful combo IMHO and makes it an extraordinarily versatile 'Jazz' bass!

I have a black pickguard and plate on the way.
I was debating whether to go all black on the hardware, or do a mix of black and chrome. Seeing as Carvin shipped me the black pickguard with chrome instead of black screws, it kinda helped me decide. So here it is now, in it's black and chrome glory.

I thought about it. But for whatever reason, I just have a problem with Jazz plates. I don't like seeing them which is a problem when one likes Jazz basses. So I was trying to go for an overall shape that blended it out. Though maybe if I do the Chrome plate with black screws and black knobs....
The black plate looks great on it. It makes it blend in with the top. Perhaps a clear guard to show off that top would work too.
I'd love to have a smoked guard. Kinda like a clear guard with some window tint.

Down here in New Zealand, when you go through the process of 'building' your bass on the Carvin website, it doesn't tell you how much each component will cost (in $NZ or $US) let alone what the final bill will be for your custom build.
This leaves you with 2 problems.
1. You don't know the values Carvin (in $US) attaches to each variable/option in the custom build process
and
2. You can't figure out how much your slow and unhelpful dealer is $crewing you out of when THEY TELL YOU how much your build will cost.
So...
Can someone use the custom build site to price ($US) this bad boy up for me?

I should have said earlier that I hate the idea of sidestepping Carvins international dealership network - but in today's world with international shipping and a low US dollar, a company like Carvin should be doing well internationally, but gets priced out of most people's range by their dealers. FWIW.

Hi Dan. I ran it for you and came up with $1,144US. Ran it twice because I couldn't believe the price. Here's a pdf from the builder (if it worked). You can probably fax this to Carvin. Good luck.
