Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 8!

You may want to take off the bridge and check the grounding wire to make sure it's making contact with the bridge. Call Carvin's customer service and see what they advise.

Another issue is that I don't seem to recall you posting a pic of your new bass.

I tried that and there is contact. also, when I first plug in I get a loud crackling noise like a cable with a short... I tried all 8 of my Monster cables and I get the same thing. So, It's not the cables. Looks like I got one with issues.

After a ton of gigs and practice hours, I am still loving the SB. Truly is the ultimate Jazz bass. And I played a really nice Jazz for years. It's going to be modded to be a P+J with some deep routing of the body to get to a more manageable weight. I'll end up soloing the P and leaving the J pickup so there isn't some massive hole for no reason. Shhhh! Just between us. ;)
