Looks like whatever was posted was taken down...? I scrolled back to February and didn't see anything. I do admit to being bummed that they cut the SB line, but in the grand scheme, it isn't really any of my business anyway.

This bass has the H50a's in it, how much different would it sound compared to the single coil J99a's?
I just put blocks on my SB5001! When I got the bass, the previous owner had ordered them and hadn't put them on yet. He put them in the case and I put them on... And it looks awesome in my personal opinion...

Since they are now "discontinued", her is mine. I got is 3rd or 4th hand from another TB'er. After 4 hrs of tweaking and a replacement String anchor bolt\washer and new knobs here it is as well as shot of my new Custom PJ5. The PJ looks dull in this overcast day shot, but it's not.

What B Strings are you using on those beauties? I Loved the Carvin strings but HATED the B...Weird OVERTONE Crap with the Carvin B string exposed core...up the neck. God I hate that.
Put an Ernie Ball B on it...It's okay..may go to a 125..let me know..

Lots of options to choose from. I like how these stickers look compared to the ones Carvin does.... Reason being that the block inlays from Carvin (at least on 5 strings) seen so small... These are larger like on the Fender American Deluxe jazzes.
Just got home and these are some quick photos from my iPhone...
The J99As will give a brighter tone and more overtones. The H50As I would call a fuller, deeper tone.
I had a jam session with my guitarist yesterday- I let him play my new SB4000 some- he was astonished at how good the fretboard, feel and tone was!!
Looks like mine a bit.

Just recorded an album with it too. Whenever I start getting GAS, I play this bass, and it goes away. I like the SB shape and always saw it as an evolution in the Jazz bass. It seems like a lot of companies took the shape, threw in X brand pickup, Y brand preamp, and Z brand hardware and call it the best thing ever. At least the SB was a different looking animal. It still barked and growled, but it wasn't your ordinary K-9, you know. I'm sad to see it lost in obscurity. I only wish I could have ordered more than one. So next time I have a grand to spend, I'm thinking, PB4.
*I just noticed, look at the perfect ergonomics with the lower horn fitting on my thigh in that pic. Brilliant design. They should have renamed it, like every company that's put out an EVH guitar.
We both have great taste!! II am sorely tempted with GAS to get a PB4 as well (but my Fender MIM P-bass is great) so can't justify it yet.
