Totally! I love this design. The SB was a fresh twist on the classic, but this is much nicer IMO.

I, too, really prefer the JB body shape over the SB, but even so, the SB had advantages (for now.)

Unlike the the SB, I am disappointed that:

1. There is no completely passive option, one without battery box routes and circuit board
2. There is no front jack option, only side jack is offered
3. There is no option for J99A pickups, which I thought were fantastic

Additionally, Carvin has made it impossible to simply order a JB body and convert my existing SB due to the JBs 22-fret neck design and 5th mounting screw/plate

Only if you have the preamp that comes standard on the instrument, or get strictly passive electronics. If you opt for the mid sweep control, you lose the active/passive function.

Are you 100% sure about that? I don't own an SB, but I have an LB76W and a BK40A, both of which have the mid sweep, and both of which have the active-passive function. And they both work without batteries in passive mode.

I can't speak for your bass, but I am positive about the Sb's electronics. You either get the active/passive electronics with passive tone controls, or you get the mid sweep option.

Sekou isn't on their artist page any more, so I wonder if it has something to do with that...? (I can't substantiate that of course, and maybe it's throwing gas on a fire. But I wonder... if Bromberg left Carvin, would his bass design go too?)
