Carvin's BX1500 and B2000

Carvin has a 10 day trial period. I'd say try one out. That's the best way to see if it works for you. IME, flat you won't be happy, but as I said there is alot tone shaping power in that amp and once you engage it you'll get great sound out of it.

For the price the bx1500 is a great value.

I went to the San Diego store last week and tried the B2000 on top a pair of BRX cabs. I own a BX1200 and much prefer the B2000. By using the DRIVE and SUB BASS knobs, I was getting a Mesa like tube tone that was burly, warm yet still clear. String noise was GONE. I use a pick and like to slide up and down the neck so this was ideal for me. If you're a rock player, the B2000 is the way to go IMO. Cost a little more? Yes, but it's still a bargain considering what you get.

I would get the BRX 10.4 cab first, then later mybe get a 10.2 for smaller gigs. The amp runs a 2 ohms so you can stack them, however this would almost never be necessary because the 10.4 with the B2000 is enough to Peel The Paint (Gentle Giant reference).

I thought I would use the B2000 for bigger outdoor venues. But since I bonded with the Shuttle 9.0 I've never pushed the 9.0 beyond it's power capacity, so it was a matter of convenience. The 9.0, Relay 50 wireless and all gig necessities fit in one small aluminum case. This promotes peace of mind on my favorite fly in gigs, can you say "carry on".
When I sold it I did overlook one of my major purchase factors right behind sound quality... 2 ohm capability.:eyebrow:



OK, OK you broke me, it was the name Carvin.:smug:

The GB is a great amp and so is the... ahem... Carvin. :rollno:

Well, if I can sell some gear I'll grab a BX1500 (a used BX1200 would be great too).

But since this thread's been quiet for 6 months, has another amp come-out that trumps these? Specifically I like the compressor, eq, and 800/900w bridged@8ohm ability of the BX1200/1500.....

I recently upgraded from the B1500

So far very happy with the change. The B2000 is like a warmer version of the B1500. Also the fact that it is half the weight of the B1500, yet does not use a class D amp is a big plus in my book.

Yup, and yes, I'd love to see both of those heads with a fEARful. They are both excellent heads, and each with their own merits. The reason I haven't gone on a mission to get one or the other is that A.) I am very happy with my B1500, and B.) I am very happy with my BX500. But rest assured, we have some more Carvin reviews in the pipeline... :ninja:

Not sure, but you might be referring to me. I just got my BX1500 last week. I had one last year and sold it satisfy my GAS for a rh450. That was a mistake. As nice as the rh450 is, it just doesnt have the low-end I prefer and ultimately I could not get the tone I wanted.

Anyway, I bought another now and all is well. When someone shells out cash for an amp they used previously, I think that is proof that it is a great amp. I run my bx1500 with a VT Bass and get all the fatness, features and power I want.

Sorry if these questions have been asked before, but, I'll be getting a new BX1500 soon so......

1) Just a regular speakon cable for bridging with the BX1500 ?

2) What is the shallowest rack for the 1500 ?

3) when bridging, how do you guys set the Drive, Amp 1, and Master volumes in conjunction with each other?

4) Favorite settings for clean, powerful tone ?
