.TLDR. tossup between Peavey Headliner 112, Eden EX112, Avatar SB112 or Avatar SB126. Which should I go for?
I have a pair of SVT210AV cabs since 2020 ... I've not quite been able to get the lower thicker juicier freq content of my bass tone(s) with this rig ... so rather than add on to these SVT cabs, I've been researching 1x12 cabs for more than a week now, to replace my SVT210's altogether. Thank God for AI which has helped summarize all these TB and basschat threads. Have yall noticed that a lot of 1x12 bass cabs have come and gone in the last 15 years? presumably due to advances in cab design and materials, and speaker designs. Some are still desirable such as the Traynor TC112, Peavey Headliner 112, Eden EX112 and Avatar SB112 to name but a few. The latter of which has been superseded but the SB126 in the same box. In fact the only bass cabs Avatar offers these days are the SB126 and the B410.
Now my SVT210AV's are decent when used together, either horiz or vert stack, but for what I do (function cover dance bands) I rarely can go with just one of them. But it's nice that I don't have to lug a 4x10 cab, and the vert/horiz stack option is handy right? Also thru my research, that's not to say that there is a good 112 single cab solution either for most gigs, I've also learned that some of the 112's could quite possibly be better than a single 210 -- like the Avatar SB126 f9r example.
Before I bought the SVT210AV pair, I've been rocking a Traynor SB112 combo that totally kills. To my surprise over the years, I've done some of my gigs with just the one Traynor SB112 combo, but I also like playing with different heads in my collection, thus why the SVT210AV cabs came along. The Traynor SB112 combo is a nice box. It sounds good, with a bit more bottom extension than the SVT210 cabs. Alas, Traynor doesn't make just the SB112 cabs -- other than their now discontinued Traynor TC112 bass cab. I could just buy another Traynor SB112 combo and split my signal between them, but then I can't use my head collection.
I've whittled it down to the Peavey Headliner 112, Eden EX112, Avatar SB112 or Avatar SB126 cabs. The latter of which offers a Deltalite neo option that gets mixed reviews compared to the ceramic 12LF standard option.
So I found a used Avatar ratfur SB126 with the word "neodym" written on the jack plate. I also found a used Avatar ratfur SB112 (premably 12LF) cab. I was thinking about buying them both for a nice stack SB112/SB126 rig of doom, but I'm not sure about mixing the ceramic/neo boxes as the sensitivities and other specs are a little different.
I'd love to find a pair of either the Peavey HL 112 or Eden EX112 cabs, but those'll prolly not materialize any time soon.
Any advice is appreciated.
