Okay, gig went well started on time and only had to do 2 encores to close out the show. Only problem we had was flip wasn't charge so no videos. home by 1AM great night!

Alright, well, I've skipped a few gigs...
Don't want to say much about the last one, other than that the bandleader had a bug up his butt from the minute he got to the club, and he let it show onstage. Not very professional. That got me on edge, with predictable results. At least the pizza was good. Anyway...
Next gigs: 2 with Brandy Stills, my country band. Friday 2/25 at the Winchester VA Moose and Saturday 2/26 at Addy's in Manassas VA. We're now starting our shows with a bit of a song called "Groovin'" by guitarist Johnny Hiland. Check it out if you don't know Johnny's work, he is a monster! He has a great bassist, too. The intro is 4 bars of bass licksmanship that I can't even get near! So I do my meager bit, hoping nobody's heard the original, but at least I get to open the show!

On Friday the 25th the semi-acoustic group I joined, Aspect Ratio, will have a three-hour engagement at Carmen's Cafe in Troy, NY. Very nervous about this one, as I'll be shouldering a little more than 1/3 of the lead vox (I've sung lead on one or two songs in various bands over the years, but never have been so responsible for shouldering the load as this), and we're a bit under-rehearsed.
Jim and Izzy, the other two guys, have been playing together for over seven years, so they're very in tune to one another; I guess I just have to watch them and go with the flow. It worked at our debut as a trio a month ago...this is a much more demanding gig, though.

Well the after report for the gig, A couple of things could have been better planned. The promoter neglected to tell us that we would be sharing drums and bass backline, So we ended up bringing all our gear. The stage was packed so not a lot of room to move around. Sound on stage was crap, but really good out in the audience. All in all a fun night.
Tonight's gig was cancelled; the cafe is not opening owing to the weather. Ah, well. We've got another engagement at the same place in two weeks. This will just mean we'll be better prepared.
I wish... last paying gig was Jan. 15. No stage time in February at all except for church.
Next weekend starts a 3-weekend run though, at last.

I played a song at a show organised by my University on Wednesday... It went really well, we were on quite early in the night but we got a big cheer (we brought a lot of friends down) and I can't remember anything going wrong other than my vocals were pretty much inaudible at the front. (Maybe they turned me down because I was that bad? Lol...)

It was a bit rough. For some unknown reason, we sounded like we hadn't played in a couple of months. I doubt that the audience noticed most of the goofs, but still... it felt like this:
We're back there March 25th. Hopefully we'll have more of our poop in one sock then.
Very much better! The club was packed like we haven't seen there in at least a year. A large birthday party helped. Our playing was much better too. Also, we had a visit from a former band member who sang two songs, then stayed to help us load out. Gotta love that, thanks, Chuck!Lazylion said:
We want to do well there, so that they will regret not booking us more this year. The club has started booking bands from out of town. I was told they had a band from Kentucky last Saturday, and not much of a crowd. Doesn't sound like a good strategy to me...
The sound man brought in a nice Precision he'd just bought, which I played for the second set.

Very lightweight, much less than my 5-string Jazz, neck felt good, action was too low for my taste. He started off saying he was going to sell it, but after hearing it during the set, he decided to keep it. I'll take that as a compliment!
We'll be back there at the end of May.
Next gigs: blues-rockin' weekend with Gary Brown at Alibi's in Carlisle PA Friday 3/4, and in Leesburg VA Saturday 3/5, at Buffalo Wings & Beer on the Rt.7 Bypass.
I am playing in my hometown again this Friday night early start 8:30 PM. local paper editor wants to interview the band and run the story but, not this time out but the 25th gig so that will added to the next story I have after the 3-25 gig. Looking forward to playing we took last week off.
Tonight and tomorrow, sub gig with a jazz/blues combo (keys, drums, sax) and a young female singer at an Irish-pub themed place. Not big money but should be a couple of fun, low pressure nights with minimal set-up and teardown. And I haven't played for pay since mid-January so I'm loving whatever I can get right now.
RTS, will do. I subbed for the same combo last June so I know the players but they've added some new material. And they had a good guitarist back then who has since left, so that will take some adjusting.
My wife usually doesn't come out to my high-volume shows with my regular band but she's probably gonna be there tonight and maybe a couple of my drummer friends. So that will be cool too.

Same here with the wife. She rarely comes out to see me on club gigs but, has made it out to a few of the larger outdoor festival stuff with my kids in tow. It is always nice to see their faces in the crowd.

We ended up doing 3 encores to close out the show. Even better the owner paid us more $ because we stay longer to keep the crowd happy. Special thanks to fellow Tber Sxride for making to the show last night very nice to finally meet you. Next week I have two shows Friday and Sat RTS

Both nights went really well. Good crowds, good playing by everyone involved and no technical issues. The singer has become much better since I last played with her at cueing the band so that made this time much easier.
The money was less than half of what I'm used to making but it was a good time... and nice to have a couple of low pressure gigs to get me back into the swing with much higher profile jobs coming up this weekend and next.
