"Check In" here before and after your gigs, Set #2, the sequel!

Okay we were in Saddle Brook last night as always the black cloud that follows us to this place shows up again! First off in rained parking lot flooded. But the the place was packed. Got set up pretty quick and started on time. Loud hum coming from the Pa entire 1st set figured out on the break the outlet was the problem plugged into a different one no more hum. 2nd song in, everything on that side of the stage goes black! after 15 minutes of them trying to figure out what breaker does what, we were up and running again to make sure it would not happen again we unplugged the flat screen TV's. We rocked the place and while on break, I was approached by a club owner who had come out to see us. He said hello you guys are great and I want you to play in my places he owns 5 clubs in NJ and NY we exchange cards and he stays the rest of the night with his friends. Finished out the last 2 sets no problem, got home at 2:30 and in bed by 3:30 all in all a good night. I love my set up I use
1 Bass driver pedal (No stage amp needed)
direct to Bose L1 PA system out to
3 Bose sub woofers
Fender P flats
Gibson Ripper rounds
And for all the nay sayers for Di boxes only, you feel this set up shaken the floor under your feet and in your chest cavity if it didn't I wouldn't be using it!

Just back from tonight's gig... pretty small crowd but some of them drank a lot of beer and whisky so it evens out. The owner was very happy with the Amrut whisky I brought him from India (also got a bottle for myself). Also got a lead on a possible future gig, talked two guitarists into joining a new project of mine, made mistakes nobody else noticed, and didn't kill the pianist when he got completely lost at the start of a four-chord song. So, all in all, a success!

So we played a concert along with a couple of other bands last sunday night. A contest and the first three would get to jam a whole night in a local but well known café. There wasn't much of an audience and those who were there wanted to hear nothing but catchy easygoing stuff so as not to have to use their brain or ears too much. We got on stage and played our 45 minute set of mostly experimantal rock stuff that is anything but easy listening and catchy, so we failed completely to end as one of the last three. In fact the only soul moving a little to our music was a very drunk red faced guy standing beside the stage, and he kept on swaying through the next two bands' sets also. ;-)

Okay people we played in one of our favorite places Sat night in Clifton NJ always a great crowd and the owners love us.
Got to the gig at 8:24pm for a 8:30 load in plenty of time to set up. Our drummer was away so we had a woman drummer who we have used in the past to sit in with us. She is professional and great to work with.
The night was a blast from the 1st note to the last. Two birthday parties filling the back of the room lots of request and great tips! We had many people sit in with us that night, Harmonica player is a regular for us and always does a great job. A singer from another band that plays there too came up and did a number with us as will as the female drummer’s female bass player (yeah I give up the bottom for two songs) and she did great! I was very impressed with her playing ability. Hey Terri if you are a TBer thanks and great job!

Any Rhode Islanders around today? Gig tonight at as220, Featuring the returns of POW!! and Ursa Rex. I play in the latter, and if you check the website it says maplight and not Ursa Rex, but thats our drummer's electronic sideproject... he decided he would rather give his timeslot to us.

So if you are in or around Providence,RI tonight doors are at 8:30pm and the cover is 6 bucks.... hope some TBer's come out!!!!

My band has been renting out a local fraternal lodge (it actually used to be really well known as a venue, I've seen lots of awesome smaller national acts there up until a few years ago) and we've been booking shows there to raise money to create a local DIY/all ages website for putting together and promoting shows. There are a ton of great local acts around here right now, so we've just been doing $5 all locals shows, with 4-6 bands per night (we play each one, but the rest of the lineup changes each time).

last show had about 100 people there, and this one had about 50% more than the last listed as "attending" on FB than the last... so we're hoping for a good turnout for this sort of thing.

this went fantastic, had maybe 130 or so come through the door. split the money after the rental with all the bands, saw 3 more local bands that I'm amazed are all local bands, had some drinks, and was invited to play a bigger downtown venue with a good presence as a place to see the good indie bands for the regular downtown crowd. Also, a guy gave our drummer a really gorgeous pearl kit on wednesday, and yesterday we traded a bunch of old music junk we had lying around in for a pair of 15" vintage 70's zildjian new beats hats both.. so this was our first chance to hear how the kit sounded with the band.

all in all, it went well I'd say.

Just played a small open air festival... As soon as we had set up it starting raining and everyone headed for the beer tent - we even got a bit of lightning! I had to keep my amp on stage left and my microphone on stage right and the sound guy wouldn't give me enough bass in my moniter so couldn't hear anything! But we rocked hard, I did enjoy myself despite the weather.

I have two gigs coming up this weekend Friday new place for us in Englewood,NJ know nothing about the room so we shall see how it turns out? The Sat. night gig is in Lincoln Park, NJ a place we always pack to the gills so, I am thrill to be back at this room! Small set up area for a 5 member band but, we manager to to fit in there some how?
hit back Monday with the results.

I auditioned for a group on Sunday, and have my first gig with them tonight, an hour opening slot.

We'll be doing mostly covers, The Allman Brothers' "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", "Loving Cup" by The Stones into "They Love Each Other" by The Grateful Dead, that kind of stuff.

I'm a bit nervous since I have only had one other rehearsal with the group, but hey... what's the worst that can happen? I mess up royally? Wouldn't be the first or last time.

I'll check back in after the fun.
