Well both shows went really well.... Friday night was quiet but fun but boy howdy did they make up for it on Saturday night!!!! The joint was packed... We're back there again this Friday night and a pub across the road on Saturday so It's starting to get busy again.

We've been talking on and off to the owner of the pub we played Saturday about NYE this year (we played there last NYE) and he basically said Yep it's a deffinate.... Don't care how much you want to charge this year, we'll pay it!!!!

3 gigs this past weekend:
#1: Thursday, a carnival in a (very) small town in MD. I hesitate to even call it a carnival, there were NO CORN DOGS! I object!! One set 6:30 to 7:30, then a 2 1/2 hour break, and a second set 10 to 11. Why the long break? If the band is playing, they can't hear the bingo numbers! :rolleyes: In the crowd were some members of Billy "Crash" Craddock's band. Craddock had a monster hit back in 1974, called "Rub It In". We hung out with them and laughed as the one guy tried to pick up our girl singer (he failed). He bought her a pink sequined cowboy hat. They played the carnival Fri and Sat.
#2: Friday at the Charles Town WV Moose lodge. They've got a cute new bartender! :hyper: A definite improvement!
#3: Wedding reception in Carlisle PA. One of those rare (IME) weddings where just about everybody stayed the whole time. Also the first time in my 7 years with the band that we all rode to the gig together. Plenty of pretty ladies dressed to the teeth, the food was excellent, and at the end the bride came up to us and said "I knew you guys would be perfect for this!" Now that's what you like to hear! :)

My band played a gig on Sunday for a Father's Day motorcycle poker run. It was a fundraiser for a family with a premmie baby and big medical bills. Our band is all between 50 and 60 years old and we play surf and classic rock - just right for an audience of bikers (who are probably attorneys and doctors in real life). The band's name is Vintage Winds, which is intentional code for Old Farts.

It went over well, the band got free buffet and soft drinks, and we received compliments on the music - so it all went well.

Then I went home and had a cold brewski.

Drat! My gig for tonight, Carroll Manor carnival, is cancelled! Instead, Mother Nature will be presenting thunderstorms, with high winds and possible hail!
And drat again, we were to get the money from Saturday's wedding tonight! Phooey!

Next gig on the 30th.

We were supposed to play an outdoor concert last nigt, until the storm came through our area, dumping almost 2 inches of rain.........we got moved inside for the concert........still had a decent crowd (I didn't think anyone would come out and brave the weather).........concrete block building, concrete floor, rounded "airplane hanger" style roof.......an acoustic nightmare, but we kept the volume under control, and our soundman did a great job!

A trio was playing an afternoon fair gig. At a break the drummer happen upon a young boy playing in a pile of manure. The drummer asked the boy what he was doing. The boy said,"I'm making a bass player." The drummer lol and and ran to get the guitarist. when the guitarist asked the boy what he was doing , again the boy said,"I'm making a bass player." Both the guitarist and the drummer lol and went to get the Bass Player. When the bass player heard the boy's response he got very upset. "Why would you do such a thing as to make a Bass Player out of a handful of ****" he asked the boy. The boy looked at the manure pile and replied,"Well, I ain't got enough **** to make a drummer or a guitarist!"

Howdy fellow bassists! I'm a TB newbie (this is but my 3rd post) and I thought I'd mention my show tonight.

After being busy for the last eight weekends we're having an unofficial homecoming show at our local pub.

You fellas are actually hearing about it only marginally later than me, 'cos I called our drummer last night for some reason, he passed his phone to the singer and rhythm player who were drinking with him and during the course of the conversation, it transpired that we were playing. Nobody remembered to mention it to the lowly 4-stringer!

Anyway, this pub lets us store our gear in one of their backrooms, so we do the occasional freebie for them. After that, we've nothing definite lined up for a bit, what am I gonna do?!

Guess I'll have to reply to my own post then.

It went pretty well, a little bit empty at the start (plus a bit of a hiatus while the lead player sorted out his faulty effects - ****ing guitarists!), it filled up later on and our second set was great fun.
Most of the crowd were friends and regulars, so that gave it a sort of exclusive, invite-only ambience.

All in all, a most satisfactory evening (free beer too) but I don't know how I'll cope with nothing lined up for a month or so.
