Ive only played one before and i agree entirely. Too nasally and thin for my taste. You shouldnt need an outboard EQ to make your bass sound like a bass. I've often dreamed about having the money to buy and completely bastardize a Ric. Gut it and re-route for a P pickup and a MM in the bridge. Get rid of that obnoxious bridge that Ive seen so many "omgz teh brige on muh ric is lifted. Iz diz normal??!?!D';" threads on and replace it with a Babicz or equally heavy duty monster bridge, maybe even a Kahler trem just for the "***" factor. :smug:

hey drummer - seeing your vintage drums made me think of this - if you've never seen the short film "The Drummer" you definitely should. It's available free online here:

It's about 20 minutes long and "stars" my good friend Dave Ratajczak, although he hardly has a word to speak the way the film is made. I think it's a great film and it was inspirational to me so far as music goes.

On the camera for download tonight at the hotel are car bumper pictures for Drummer, and shoe pics for the ladies. FM and PA, I found the mostest gorgeous shoes today in an airport shop. FM, they match the Spector, but they cost as much as one, too - almost 1,600 EU. And at today's exchange rate, that's going on $2,500. Today $100 gets you EU 59,23. In Europe, your money does not go a long way at all, but it's still worth it for the culture.

And the drum kit is just to the left of this. This is in my "music room" in the basement though it's not finished yet that project will kick off in the new year.

As noted it's an Ampeg SVT6-Pro head driving the Mesas. Sounds wonderful! Capable of 1100W in this configuration but I don't ever use that much. Barely 1/4 throttle for rehearsals.

I'm familiar with that short and agree that it is inspirational. I have two "Modern" kits and six that are "vintage". A lot of times drummers only like one or the other. I have room in my heart (and music room) for both.

A monster Ampeg head driving mesa cabinets, I stand corrected. I'll add an extra "wow" for that. Wow!

lmfao...you will never ever see me in a pair of $2500 shoes...unless they were a gift...and then I'd probably sell them to get another bass or [DEL]some[/DEL] a head, or a big @$$ cab...unless they rubbed my feet as I walked...then they might be worth something near that. :p
