I think part of the problem is that maybe people just don't have any new stuff to show. Like me, I've been selling stuff off rather than getting anything new. People have seen what I have already.

I'm sure you are right. The once a year thing seemed to work out great, but the more recent concept of "bi-weekly" Cincy GTG's kind of burned it out I think! ;)
However you don't have to bring anything, Eagle. You are more than welcome to just hang out and kibitz if you want.
The gear part is no doubt cool, but the camaraderie is the glue that holds things together IMO.

Perhaps we need to do a bigger outreach than just this forum? Get the word out on FB? I plan to be near my gear most of the time, so I'm not worried about any non-Tbers being there...

If the consensus is to go this direction, I'll be happy to help set that up, spread the word among bands I know.

I'm a little on the fence about that. We have lots of valuable (and often portable) stuff laying this place, if we get too many folks milling around I'll have to arm the motion detectors in the shops, offices, etc., and have to lock down the warehouse/common area doors to keep us physically separated from the working loading dock crews.
The guided tour would pretty much be out, and exploring would need to be physically and electronically curtailed rather than by simple verbal suggestion.

I was thinking about PMing past attendees, getting member names from the old GTG threads and linking this thread in a PM to them.
I suspect that several of those past attendees became a bit jaded when the annual Cincy GTG got diverted into the smaller bi-weekly versions and stopped paying attention and/or planning to attend.
Kind of a shame; I'm sure many people who used to look forward the the annual event fell by the wayside...

Anyway, if you want to compile a list of past attendees and send them a PM titled "BIG Cincy GTG" with a link in the body that would be great jamesczar! Time is one thing I'm short of for the next couple weeks, and that would be of great assistance in furthering the Sept. 28th cause!

I'll move mountains to get out there, unfortunately they might push back! This is plenty of notice for me to work it out, so I'm gonna say I'm in. I can bring my Ampro stack that gets alot of looksie-love, so that some TBers can "put a voice to the face" as it were. I wouldn't imagine much of anything else I could bring that isn't "meh" stuff. Maybe if I have a finished cab by then I could toss it in the truck too. ( I have them built, just don't finish them until I get an order-- drivers and duratex aren't free yaknow lol). Hope to see everyone there and am totally looking forward to maybe taking a fearless for a test drive! I'll confirm or :( within the next three or four days by PM to you L&C.

17 days and counting...

So far I could host this shindig in my family room and buy the refreshments from Jeff Ruby :D

Here's the "I'll be there" confirmation list so far;

RadioactiveGuy4
corsa
fuzzy beard
aproud1
ASATMAN

Maybe there just aren't as many serious bass gear heads in our area as I once thought!

I have a couple of personal friends that will come down, but even throwing them into the mix we'll be way short of what would be reasonable for me to open up our place here, harass vendors for demo units, and get catering.

I've sent 50+ PM's to attendees of past GTG's and received some regrets (thanks to those members for responding!) but not the rush of confirmations I was hoping to get.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Life has gotten in the way of me and my play time. Both of the kids are in sports and/or scouts and I am busy playing bass every weekend.

Sorry I did not reply earlier. My story is the same as caeman, too many other commitments to make attending this a priority. Thanks for the invite though.

I get it, and I really wasn't trying to "guilt" anybody into committing to attending! The only reason PM'ed you guys is because I poached your user names from attendees or at least potential attendees from previous Cincinnati are GTG's.

Few of us get to indulge our hobbies as our livelihood, and certainly there are a multitude of priorities that most need to put ahead of music related hobbies. No explanation is necessary and thanks for the RSVP!

My situation is the reverse; the music business IS my "day job", hosting this GTG is like having to put in an extra day at the office! :D

Crap. I really want to make one of these, but I'm on the road every weekend this month. Ironically, I'll be playing in Cincy on the 19th, but have to head out right after the gig for more dates that weekend.

Someone take a video camera! ;)

Maybe we should scrub this one? Shoot for another beginning of the year? That way people can plan and we can improve attendance.

I have to request off of work, and will miss those hours. It won't hurt, but I don't want to get the day off, and have the rug pulled out from underneath me. Where are we? is it still likely to happen? I can make it, but kinda need to know it will.

I'LL BE BRINGING THIS:

Maybe I can use curiosity to get a couple more TBers on board, LOL.

I hear that brother!
I was planning to make the yea or nay call on the 20th. I've cleared my schedule for the 28th so it's no sweat for me to wait until a week before, but obviously other folks may or may not have that ability to react schedule wise within such a short window.
The whole idea of holding demo gear over, opening up our facility and springing for chow was cooked up because of the bass gear I was going to be researching in house before the fourth quarter anyway. The timing seemed to be fortuitous and I though folks (more correctly MORE folks) would be interested in coming down to check things out. I also thought the 7+ weeks would allow enough time for people to clear their schedules for a few hours on a Saturday.

However it would seem that I misjudged a lot of key points. :D

Maybe I'm just better suited to be an attendee rather than a host!
What's your yea or nay deadline basscooker? We'll use that as the cutoff date.

My schedule request is already in, I'm a go. I went on ahead and put it in today. If it can't happen, I can try and switch back, or just go ahead and take off my first saturday in almost three years. Either way. But IF it happens, I'll be there, with the Ampro, of course. So, L&C is there a "cutoff" for members' joins dates? I have a good friend who isn't a player, but his teenage son is. there might be two more, but I don't know if they're members yet.
