Yeah. It's my first one so I'm still toying around to get a good a decent sound. I was using the camera and mic from my Macbook Pro. Thanks for your honesty, Ken. :) It means a lot.

:D Hey, getting a better mic is EASY... playing like you do is the hard part:) I'll send you my mic and recorder if you send me your feel and chops!

Think you might want to have another peak.. That was the NAMM show bass special order kbp5.. Light Old growth Alder body.. Nitro Olympic White.. Dalbergia Fingerboard, Fiber dots..Latest Pup Revision. Change PG from Tort at NAMM to White.....
Yep. Clearly an AC headstock.

That's a pretty exciting thing for Jimmy to have one of his basses on national TV with an act of that stature. Cool!

I would think that anyone who wants a reasonably vintage/accurate sounding and feeling P Bass with 5 strings would be pretty hard pressed to improve on the A-C model.

Back to the weight....and the dumb question of the day...would a top-notch strap make any difference in carrying that weight vs. a medium of the road strap?

I'm using a Franklin Strap, suede, 2-1/2" width. I like them a lot - I have 2. I had to cut a new hole to fit me though. The ones that are pre-cut are in the wrong place for my size.
One, I have not cut off the excess that is un-useable.

The comfort strapp just didn't sit right for me, so I've been using a Neotech Mega Bass Strap. Definitely makes a difference.

Yes, considering endorsee Nathan Watts recently chose to play his Bossa on the RNR Hall of Fame Induction, but he's Nathan so we'll forgive him :)

I'm not sure Nathan uses an A-C anymore. I've seen a bunch of recent performances by him on YouTube (like the White House thing) and he seems to be using that Bossa 100% of the time now. It sounds killer also.

That was a sadowsky.

Ricky was playin his sadowsky, but I went back to the picture when Jimmy was handing Hugh the bass to verify color. It definitely looked like an AC headstock so that is why I said I think. I never got a real great shot as they never show the bass player any love. Bass soounded great. Way better than Jon's vocals on Livin on a Prayer;).

yeah up til this tour Hugh has always been stage left and downstage... but last night he was stage right up on a riser with Tico.. I would prefer where he is now... First he gets to be closer to the drums and 2nd he has his own real estate plot to hunker down on.
Yeah most of those TV gigs they stick the cam on the vocalist or lately in late night TV i notice they will get more bass players in the view if they One.. look really weird or Two.. have weird stage motions.. so i guess just be weird.;):)

:):) I love the ones that wonder why they cant MIC their monitors so they can put their monitor in the PA too.... yup not kidding..
there has to be a joke about that somewhere..

:jeez:
don't even get me started!

we gotta buy tons of gear, and "she doesn't even own a mic"

seems fair to me;)

I dont care for the comfort strap.. Had two and they sort of frayed.. I like and own a few of the Sadowsky straps.. Love them.. I have no idea who makes them but they last for years and they feel great. My main one is about 5 years old and still looks new.... even for me thats hard to believe.:)

No way, dude... there is no way someone's that stupid and can still muster the cranial function to exist. That person would be too stupid to remember to breathe. :D

+1
Same for the NeoTech, which I think is essentially, if not exactly, the same strap with a logo on it anyway.

I liked the idea of the CS where they had lots of padding and limited the "stretch" of the neoprene, so it wouldn't feel as much like your bass is hanging from a big spring, BUT, I found them to be bulky and ironically uncomfortable as a result. I much prefer the thinner Sadowsky/Neo straps, as well as the Levy's 4.5" padded leather strap. I've got a couple of those nicely broken in and they're super nice... probably use those more than anything else 90% of the time.
