Of course you would say that, haha. I figure for an extra 3rd of the price of an AC, I can have something that will appreciate in value down the road. I don't see the boutique Fender style basses going under anytime soon, so there's always a chance to get an AC down the road.
The vintage P Bass I've actually played and it left a huge impression on me. I just can't get that sound or feel anywhere else.
Kirk, I know you've owned the real deal 60's Precisions and a KBP4, what's your take on the difference?
I was just kind of kidding with that 'PS'. I tell you what, I'm not a PBass guy at all, but a buddy of mine (Ric Vice over on the DB side) has a 59 P Bass in almost perfect condition, and it is about the most freakin' amazing instrument I've ever played. Lightweight, and the frets are worn down to the point of it almost behaving like a fretless. Freakin' amazing.
You guys will get a chuckle out of this. I am gigging down in Cancun next week (can you believe it... how good is my life!), and as part of the deal, I didn't want to travel with a bass... just too much hassle). So, KJung will be gigging a mid 80's PBass on that gig. First gig with a 4 string bass in over 20 years, and first gig on a PBass in almost 30 years
Gee, I hope it has old flats on it... and oh, please, please, hartke/GK on the backline.... or a Peavey. Whoohooo!

I am gigging down in Cancun next week (can you believe it... how good is my life!), and as part of the deal, I didn't want to travel with a bass... just too much hassle). I'm listening to Brazilian Love Affair to get both in the 'Tropical' and the 'PBass with flats' mode as best I can.

That gig is for a wedding right? How funny would it be if the groom was a bass player that loves jazzes and he comes over to you and suggests that you check out some J's.

Actually, I have only recently started hanging out on this thread.
I really liked the RA, but I sold it to Jonno since I picked up the new translucent red LM5 after the NAMM show and was suddenly very cash poor - go back a few pages and you'll see some posts about it. Jimmy brought it by a gig I was doing out near his shop and it was all over.

the lower voiced treble grind of jimmys guts lends itself better to hibeams than lowriders imo. for a wider voiced bass, i go loriders.
Looks like the twin to my metro uv70, jimmys got it in my head that the black blocks are more associated with a alder maple which makes my uv70 a bit of an orphan.
