As far as I know the covers for the 4's do not have logos... And if you notice they are shiny plastic unlike the 5's. I think since they're standard size they are something Jimmy can readily get but the 5's have to be made due to the longer length so might as well put a logo on it, right?
And don't worry Tom, Jason's LG4 in the classifieds was the one that had EMG's.
Man, so many nice basses on that site... I'm gonna research the other dealers later and see what we get.

Boy you are right on that... I never thought i would like a pastel like my p4. I told Jimmy to suprize me.. and he did. I LOVE it now... that J is smokin'

My buddy may be selling an LG5 but I would (should)have to sell my beloved Skjold to get it. I've played the AC and it's....... well you guys know what it's like!!!!
It would pair well with my Precision 5.

A little late to the party, but here are pix of my NAMM '10 LM5. There were some pix of it from the show in the previous thread, before it was in my possession.
Note the wider body, skunk stripe, bullet truss rod, altered headstock angle, and 5-bolt neckplate (The neck-tilt adjustment never was actually completed, it just has a dummy screw in there). I added straplocks, 'cause I'm that kind of guy.
I've used it on a few gigs so far, and it is absolutely slamming! I could go on, but I'll let the pictures do the talking.

The KBP4 at Bass Player Live (which now belongs to Miko Espanol) had EMG's in it. That situation was rectified as soon as Miko bought the bass.
And if I'm not mistaken, Jason Langley had Jimmy install EMG's in the LG4 when he got it cause he just got the Dreamgirls gig and wasn't sure about hum in some older venues he might play in... Obviously it's not an issue since he's using his LG5. And I believe this has also been rectified.

I play in some places that are electrically noisy with my p4.. a P bass pickup is already Hum canceled by its nature of one coil being Rev Wound Rev Polarity Mag making it a humbucker... I had an EMG in my kbp4 last summer for a while. I liked it alot.. it had more bottom and a but smoother.. but it lacks that organic growly mids that the passive pickup up has. The EMG went deeper and higher in freq... But I didnt notice any difference in noise floor between the two... So in a P bass pickup im not really sure that the EMG is quieter theory holds water.
In a single coil J, i would say it matters in that instance yes the EMG is quieter...

You posted this question in an AC club thread, with a bunch of raving AC lunatic fanatics, and you actually expect this to be a question that could possibly have more than one answer?
Of course the answer is keep the Skjold!
Seriously though, as an owner of both, I can honestly appreciate your dilemma, because not only are both completely amazing basses, there's absolutely no overlap/redundancy between them, so honestly, the best answer is to find a way to keep the Skjold and buy the LG. But, I know the best answer isn't always viable.
All I can say is, good luck with that decision.
