Man, I gotta' say, I know you said in the last segment of this thread that you hated the alder/rw slap tone, but I'd be surprised (to say the least) if you got anybody to agree with you on that at least based on the slap tone you have in your LG clips... every LG clip you've slapped in sounds pretty damn good to me. :)

Thanks!

Solo is one thing... that top end totally disappears in the mixes I play in though (as a number of us discussed in the last thread). I agree it sounds good, but there is a reason many (most) 'slap style' players prefer ash/maple (or ash/ebony for the 'modern' guys). As you know, playing alone in the living room is a VERY different thing from gigging in a mix. That is again why I own an LG and an LM... both great tools for different jobs!

All this stuff sounds good though, just depends on the tone you want. Neither of these basses are ever going to be made to sound the same IMO. I love them both!

Yeah, I totally hear what yer sayin here.

Ok, so the next step is to demo this. Get a track to play along with and have that run through another bass rig while you jam along with each bass. That would be awesome! :)

Even better with a DI and a mixer, but as I recall you don't have that kinda' thing laying around.

See what kinda' trouble you get in when you post cool clips and vids??? HUH???? :D :D

Even better take both rigs and all your basses to a local club and play along with the band so we can get a feel for the live room tone....:p

:D I'm getting lots of PM's and pings from youtube asking for various clips. I'm about 'clipped out'!

Anyway, fun stuff. I'm like a kid with a new Tonka toy on the day after Christmas:D

Does anyone know what the Alleva Coppolo KaBoom Box outboard preamps are going for used? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Also, I have one of the nice heavy duty, purple lined gigbags (with Alleva Coppolo logo embroidered on the front pocket in gold lettering) if anyone knows what these are worth, or if interested, PM me. Thanks for any info that you guys can provide

Hey Guys, I just wanted to share this site. I did some searching for Jimmy's international dealers for some eye candy and Sleek Elite from Japan has some choice pieces in the Sold section.

The 1600 with spalt maple top is hot... Well, minus the gold hardware.

Check it out!

Here's some of the pics from the Sleek Elite sold galleries - I picked out a bunch of the basses in combos I hadn't seen before:

I recognize one of those basses !!!
Hajime somehow ended up with the 1600 that i fell in love with @ NAMM 2006 in the Aguilar Booth.
It sounded & played amazing, but was too modern sounding for what I was doing at the time.
Looks like the tuners were switched out too.
I kinda miss that bass ...
Check out my backwards photo booth pic ...

Are all of Jimmy's pickups supposed to say "Alleva-Coppolo" on them? The pickups on my 4-string do not...

I didn't link any 4 bangers in my post above, but if you look at the rest of their sold gallery they have fours which don't look like they have logos. Might be something only on the 5's.
