Masterful playing and control. I was actually listening to a tape I made today with my LG 5 and clicked on the AC forum and BAM you and your LG convinced me that the LG model is a very serious bass----all the way.

It looks to be Candy Apple Orange Juice with matching headstock, Hipshot bridge, looks like a DN board perhaps ?

Salsa bass is so right, feels so right, and really pits the bass in a very integral role in an orchestrated setting, where one can here the bass line juxtaposed in the whole arrangement.

I had a discussion with a pro today and we were dialoguing the fact that a lot of (today's) bass players and playing is riff oriented--- over stagnant overused, and familiar grooves and harmony. This same gentleman referenced the Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller collaborations and how everything about the arrangements were meticulously thought thru in terms of colour, character, feel, tempos, nuance etc etc. .

A very musical approach by 2 monster musicians. :bassist:

Gentlemen I am not extolling the virtues of simplicity over complexity at all or vice versa--just MUSICALITY.
It seems to me and my colleague that musicality oft takes the back seat to flash, fads, and chops ( technique ) :hmm:

Anyways this was for my humble tastes, a rather impressive BASS 101 video here on Salsa Bass.

Again kudos man (Ricardex) this is for me personally the most impressive video I have seen to date on this here forum. Mind you, there has been a plethora of great playing in the video submissions on this forum, BUT there is something in the spirit and humility of both the player and playing that I find most appealing and refreshing in this Salsa video.

I am not impartial to any style at all as I love ALL styles of music. To quote the Duke--there are only 2 kinds of music GOOD and BAD :cool:

Simple, effective and sublime this video for me.

I love my LM5 but I love my LG5 sempre--mucho ! :hyper:

wow thanks for all the comments, i just was having fun over Sal Cuevas bass lines, and Willie Colon arrangements.
I not consider my self a salsa player, I'm mostly in to rock, jazz, etc ,but I love (good old) salsa, and Sal Cuevas is one of my heroes, his groove/tone is simple amazing, and he is versatile as well, (for ex:he played in Billy Idols' Rebell Yell album, and yes, that slap bass on Eye Without A Face is him), a truly gifted musician... (btw like Ruben Rodriguez, and Alfredo De La Fe (violinist))

that's my LG-5, fiesta orange, poly, indian rw, those are Fender's steel...

I loved the candy apple oj AC that was up in the classifieds, so I'm curious what fiesta orange looks like

All I want for Christmas is your LG5. :D

Pick a bass, any bass... Since I still can't find one to buy outright, I'm thinking of offering up some of my best pieces as a trade for the right LG5. On the fence with all of these, but let's see what happens.
