All great suggestions guys. Man, I wish I could order a collection fo these things in every color!

I'm such a sunburst kind of a guy at heart -- but these AC's look great with color. The way they channel the old Fender vibe is addicting.

They ALL look good. As yet another choice, here is a picture of the RA I had for a while. I'll tell you what, it was the best CAR finish I've ever experienced, and that super shiny red finish with the gloss neck and perloid guard was simply amazing looking.

I agree with Vic that if you do any sort of black blocks and/or binding, you are IMO really best with some sort of tort/burst thing (or black with white/perloid guard).

With black dots, you can pretty much do what you want.

Cool. I guess you posted a pic of a trans color, but didn't really comment on that so I'd assume you also thought that was good too.

I'm not really that jazzed (pardon the pun) about solid trans colors on an instrument like the Nordy classics or A-C's, which attempt to vibe the old school thing. Not as 'bad' as a fancy top, but kind of 'not keeping with the vibe of the design'. Pure IMO there.

I'm not an expert on old burst finishes. I assume some of them were 'trans' back in the day (although too much grain can get in the way of that finish IMO... too many design components fighting against each other). Any sort of burst or those classic 50's/60's solid colors work great IMO.

Ken,

One of the cool things about my trans butterscotch blonde or some of the others, I like the root beer, is that from the audience perspective it looks solid. Its only for us bass geeks that you can see the grain up close. If you stick with a vintage color I think it works. Totally IMO

+1 I love the look of your LM. This is all totally personal preference, and really has very little to do with anything. No real right or wrong answers I guess.

Of course, just throwing out my IMO.

Pretty much every bass Jimmy makes looks great, including MItch's green hornet RA. Which I would never have chosen but is awesome.

You add in the fact that these basses play and sound so good you could fall in love with late 70s cat poo.

I'll leave you by yourself with the cat poo. Lol!!!!

Just an FYI to all....
Jimmy makes all of his own pickups from ground up. HE was working on the HC J5 for a while...
I almost wore him down to actually make one a few years ago .
But it was Jason that broke though and got Jimmy to see the light and actually start to develop and then produce it..:)

Just saying ,so that people dont think its an off the shelf Pup.. The bobbin flats are cut on his laser machine, assembled, wound, potted and magnetized in his shop.. By him and Sebnem...

I reckon he's got a bridge pup he likes for that setup now.
Excellent.

Who knew this color picking thing would be so much fun!

For those who know me, I'm definitely not the "help me pick a bass color" thread kind of guy. I just thought I'd pulse the collective AC fan base here on TB and see what ideas were out there.

If I start a "what kind of bass should I use for metal?" thread however, please delete my TB membership immediately and put me out of my misery! ;-)

Ice Tea Burst. But I am a fan of Ice Blue Metalic so I
think that would look great too.

I also have another AC incoming.

Just like this one.
