Haha hey gruuv!! Glad to see you back and in action.

I have an LG5 on order with these specs:

3T Sunburst
Nitro Body and Neck
Tort Guard
Indian Rosewood Board
Blocks
Binding
AC Two Band Pre
Tone Control
AC Bent Plate Bridge

It's gonna be sweeeeeeeet!! :D

Can't wait to hear about yours!

Hey Bernie,

That's gonna slam! The one I'm getting is very similar to yours, minus the blocks and binding... that's going to look fantastic. I've always really loved the look of blocks on a dark rosewood board. I will reveal it all when the time is right. . .

MUAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;)

Spoke to Jimmy today. . . gotta go new bridge for the vintage vibe (per the man himself). But seriously, that bass is going to be amazing either way, congrats to both you guys.

On a side note, Jimmy seriously has to be one of the nicest cats in the industry - he rocks.

I have the Bent plate bridge on my kbp5... yes it is not as easy to change string but it really is no problem... takes about 1 minute extra time.. I have not done an AB between the 2 bridges on this bass yet... but the bass with the vintage bridge is VERY punchy!!! when i get time i will pull the bridge from my LG5 and pop it on the kbp5 just to see what it does when exchanged on the same bass..
And my kbp has that vintage sort of sound and punch... so i attribute it to the bridge...

Very cool, Dave! I'm sure that bass will be a beauty! I can't wait to see some of the KBP5's start rolling in that have been ordered.

When do you expect completion?

I ordered on about 2/1 and he said 4-6 months. I haven't bothered him since as I bugged him quite a bit with changes right after I placed the order. He's going to let me know before it goes to paint so I can make a final decision on color and nitro or poly on the neck. I love the aged oly white with matching head stock but every time I think about changing I see Tom's burst and wonder why would I want anything but that? It's the first burst I've seen that I like.

On a related note we had some some friends of my daughter over for dinner last weekend and the husband of the couple, whom I knew played bass but hadn't heard, wanted to test drive my rig after dinner. He's somewhat out of the loop new gear wise but it turns out he's got chops for days. He starts out with my Nash jazz and can't believe it's not a real old Fender. Moves on to my '72 franken P which he likes but not as much as the Nash. Lastly out comes the LG-5 and he won't put it down. First time he's had gas in 10 years. We head back upstairs and he tells his wife he needs to rethink his rig. I get the look from her and explain it's not my fault I'm just the messenger.

Haha nice story! I guess the AC's have that power over people. ;)

I hear ya on the 3TS in Nitro. It's really an amazing finish. The Fender guy knows how to do it right.

I can't wait for my bass either! I ordered not long after you did.

Well guys,
I'm dying a little inside everyday that I don't have a maple necked KPB5.
So gear must be sold...at rock bottom prices, noless!
1st on the block is my 1970s 200A Series Wurlitzer EP! (Sad to see her go!)
2nd, a Fretless P bass that was set on fire a couple times. (Old Man Ibanez Collector is planning on fixing her up, and relicing her down...there should be a thread here soon about it!)
3rd, an EBMM SR5 HH. She needs a new home soon.
4rd, my first born son. (But I need to make him first).
5th, Bass Pod Pro XT. Who needs digital tone, when you can have passive analog. MMmm Mmmm.
6th, my sperm.

If all goes well, I'll be complaining about the waiting time any week now! LOL

Matt

For gruuv, who asked everybody to review what they've got on order from Jimmy (I don't mind having an excuse to go over it again):
LG-5
Aged Oly White, matching headstock
nitro lacquer body and neck
tort pick guard
Indian rosewood fretboard
A-C pre
passive tone control

I ordered it 3/17...That's, what, last Monday? Hoo boy. Got to hold on. Let's see: eight months? That's mid-November. Be nice to have it for all those holiday gigs. Of course, what would be really nice would be to have it for Memorial Day.

Everyone who plays my LG5 loves it and pretty much wants one!

Damn Jimmy does some outstanding work!

Ok... I think I'm good to go with this:

KBP-5
Shoreline Gold
Matching Headstock
Indian Rosewood board
Parchment pickguard

....or... should I go Aged Olympic White with a Tort pickguard? DAMN! I'm sure I could flip a coin and be happy either way, but this is tough man.

Those sound like good specs! Although I'm not real familiar with what Shoreline Gold looks like, I'm sure it would be nice.

You might have to flip a coin though haha. That's a hard choice.

If it were me, I would go with Aged Olympic with a tort guard and matching headstock. Buuuuut it's not. ;)

That looks great with a RW board. As much as I love Oly white/RW/Tort (that's my Sadowsky color), the gold is quite unusual.. you don't see them much.

I vote for this. I never thought I'd like the gold deal, but it looks very good on stage, and is unique!

Of course, either would be smokin'!
