I was talking with Paul a few weeks ago and he was loving my LG with maple.... I cant wait to see his bass..
He and his wife just had a new baby the other day so i guess he is treating himself to a bass to take the edge off... haha

Well I think my LG-5 will be done in a couple of weeks(hopefully sooner) so I need to figure out which bridge I should go with. Has anyone tried out both that could compare the two bridges?

I see no reason why this wouldn't be a parallel of traditional fender Bridges vs the high mass replacements.

If memory serves correctly, Paul Turner's Oly White LG5 has the Hipshot bridge. It can't be bad whatsover! I do love the ease of string changes with the quick release slots.

The bent plate vintage bridge doesn't have that feature I don't think.

While I love the Hipshot B style bridge, I am still haunted by Tommix 3T Sunburst Nitro LG4. It has the bent plate vintage style bridge.

I went with the bent plate bridge. From what I've heard it sounds old and open. That's fine with me.

In the long run, I don't believe it's a huge deal. As Gary said, Paul's LG5 has a Hipshot and it smokes.

I also like the aesthetics of the bent plate versus the B style Hipshot.

You won't regret it! It sounds great! I was a little worried about it at first and I talked it over with Jimmy and decided to trust him. He was right! It looks the part and sounds wonderful. I don't regret it for a second. I have not had any problems changing strings. I have tried a number of different combinations and I have a set of Sadowsky BLUE Nickels on there now and LOVE it. I typically prefer the BLUES on Maple boards and the Blacks on dark boards but there is something about this combination that ROCKS!

+1... I've never heard a bridge swap significantly change the tone of an instrument. The bent plate is cool... fits the look and vibe of the bass better than the modern hipshot. Good call IMO!

I have to agree it matches the vintage vibe. But it is a pricey little bugger. I think it's an extra $200 ish? sigh.

Yeah, I assume these aren't really in production, so some machine shop probably has to make them one by one. Again, I don't think you would hear any difference in the tone, and the quick release of the Hipshot is kind of nice.

I just totally dig proprietary stuff on these high end hand made basses!

Very cool, Tom! I feel quite safe in going with this bridge. With as passionate as Jimmy is about his product being 'purely vintage', I don't think he would release it unless it fit that mindset perfectly.

You guys are killin me here. Everytime I think I'm going to just settle in with at least a couple modest specs, you say things that makes total sense! Dammit. ...and that costs a bit more. LOL That said, I continue to be blown away by Tom's 3T sunburst LG4. So I really want that "Mojo" that Tommix is so enamored about with. That basically equates to a full tilt Alleva with "all" the trimmings! I.e. bent plate bridge, Dalbergia, Nitro etc.

Jimmy reminded me when I ordered my LG5 that I can decide on the bridge later. Once it get's that close, I'll make the final call. I'm guessing I will lean toward the vintage bent plate bridge. Jimmy also told me his proprietary bridges are built at a local machine shop and are not a production item. Hence the additional cost for what is essentially, a simpler design than the Hipshot bridge.

Haha! I know what ya mean, Gary. Jimmy probably doesn't even finalize his invoices because he knows that stuff will change so often.

There are so many options and the good thing is that we do have time to pick and choose before production begins. Good thing we have so many cool cats to bounce ideas off of here on TB.
