TB stands for Tom Barney. His string spacing preference is 18mm, so any bass with that spacing is a Tom Barney (TB). An LM5 TB is an LM5 with 18mm spacing. Any of Jimmy's basses can be made as a Tom Barney edition.

IMO it is a quite noticeable difference. Doesn't sound like much of a change on paper, but can really be felt compared to his standard spacing neck build.
I have read from others that it wasn't much, or took a while to really feel, but for me it was obvious and immediate.
The 18mm string spacing is the main thing on a TB but there are a few small details that also go along with it ....and considering how detailed people here can be sometimes (including me) it might be worth mentioning:
-Slightly smaller nut width
-Slightly slimmer width of neck up the neck plus pocket ( as a result of nut width)
-Slightly smaller body ( just a hair!)
-Shorter more standard pickup length to accomodate ( as opposed to his more elongated standard pups)

correct. Everything on the TB is just a tad smaller and tighter and it gives it a fantastic feel. IMO the best part is the smaller pickups. They just fit your hand perfectly.
BTW, a little off topic but after going back and forth with KJung a little while ago about flying with your bass I have a fantastic story. So today I flew from Florida to Newark, NJ. I had my double IGig bag with me. In it, my '73 P-bass and Fodera Imperial 5. Now I'm all super cocky since they haven't made me check my bass in forever and i have priority boarding on United which usually lets me get a spot for my basses in the overhead. Well today, this bitch of a woman refused to let me take it on no matter how hard I begged and pleaded that my bag was worth about $15,000. And not only did they make me check it, but they messed up and didn't put the right tag on it for gate check, so it was to be sent through the system with all the other luggage that gets chucked around! When I realized the error as we were taking off I almost died. I called a flight attendant over and BEGGED her to help me try and get it brought up to me at the gate. She said she would try. As we started to come in for a landing, I asked another flight attendant what the deal was, and he said, "Don't worry, the captain is going to go down and bring it up for you when we land." I was literally in shock. Sure enough, when we landed, they made everyone wait an extra 10 minutes to leave so the captain could leave the cockpit, go down under the plane, and carry my 35 lb. double gig bag up to me. When i walked off the plane, there he was, in full captain uniform, holding my bag for me. I tried to hug him but he wasn't going for it, so we shook hands and I thanked him about 100 times. Seriously, UNITED AIRLINES PEOPLE!!!!!!

NICKEL .... Funny, they don't SEEM like Nickels (usually Nickels have that 'milky' tone) but that's what they are, for sure.
the nickels are a great string. living out here on the central coast of cali next to ernie ball made super slinkys and my mm sterling a staple for a long time. i just rediscovered the ernie ball nickels myself and started using them again. pretty different sounding than the rotos though right?
What I feel they do have in common is a really strong mid-range, which I love. (The E string is not quite as strong) but
these bad boyz recover quicker than ANY string I have used... really articulate (without being thin) to play on. Diggin that for sure!
Note:This is the first time I have used them on anything besides a MM5.
On a MM5, they are waaay different sounding than on a 70's Fender type build...waay different (in that they don't suffer, for better or worse, the MM5 preamp hypes).
