BTW on the body size topic...I'll throw in that the newer body style never bothered me and I have/had both...but right now I'm all TB and Jimmy makes those bodies ever so slightly smaller to be in proportion to the smaller neck and pocket. Its really small but I do kinda feel/notice it.
I've also been wondering what an ash/maple or ash/rosewood KBP5 would sound like...even in a TB
Jimmy is reluctant as his preference is alder...but that could be a cool funk machine too....

Actually.. TB is only a small fraction of the bass players on planet earth/// I know jimmy is back logged about 16 months with orders... In fact, that caused him to become more popular.. facebook has become a much larger place for him.... people talked about it and saw it for what it really was..... So,.Its good for him too.. I think that he would rather have guys playing his basses than polishing them and worshiping their glossiness. 
If you look at it.. all the hoopla on here was from the same 3-5 guys and their basses.. I dont know how they get to post all day while at day gig,,,
but they do.. So it really was only about 3-5 guys posting here all day that are missing from here,.... all the better in my mind.. You have players that like the stuff and not people that are fickle.... .
Not only that but his resale prices not only Hold to near New prices but if you want to sell overseas you will get more than new prices.. Just saw a used transitional lg5 that was $4+k new go for almost $7k overseas through an indi owner..... Im holding onto mine... except my Oly white LG5 ala'66... Jimmy is making me a new one... Im in line.. about 7 months now.

I'm not sure I completely agree with your sentiment, although I'm glad to hear Jimmy's business is doing well.
Any update on the PJ set up? I saw those initial pics of the non exposed pole piece J on the KBP. Has he done more of those? Anyone have one?

No problem with a day gig at all. But I dont know how those same few guys could spend their whole day typing on facebook in this thread and many others and still keep their jobs? As a boss or musical director, i run a tight ship.. No goofing off , and have your $^% together when you are on my gig....
Playing the poop outta my AC for six years now. Minimal polishing necessary, Jimmy said this bass was meant to be played so that's what happens. I took his words to heart and this is the first time I haven't been obsessed with caring for a bass...liberating.

Just to be sure: My main concern is not the body size but the shaping, which is misplaced on the newer ones imho. It is not an aesthetical issue - it FEELS wrong for me.

What is it that you are comparing it to that feels wrong... ?
At first, my sadowskys felt weird to me with their down sized un-fender body size and shape. Then i got used to them...
I think the Alleva ALTernate body shape is 1/8" more around the width.. Not really that much... about the same difference as the sadowsky is at being smaller sized..
However, each company makes a regular fender size body too at request or model ...
