My KBP4 does "feel smaller" because it is very contour.

Currently, I only have a Lākland 44-64 USA Custom at home to compare (no Fender Precision) and, it's "bigger" (less contour).

My bearings might be a little off but my AC has more of a "modern" body size.

Extremely comfortable and great weight! :thumbsup:

Jimmy s P basses are NOT under sized. i know that bass that you're talking about , It was the PRIZE that Jimmy gave out at his BassAcre event..I played it , It was lightweight too. .. My KBP4 is light @ 8# 2oz... The bass that you are talking about was a little down sized prototype and not really a KBP4.
My KBP4 is one of two early ones. John Taylor from Duran Duran got one too. They are about 1/8" thicker.. Similar to a strat body thickness. We were experimenting at that time.. Mine is very worn in , with dents scratches peeling paint and I carved the name of my dogs that passed on into the back of my KBP4.. It have been around planet earth a few times. Still my fave bass

Thanks man. I love how it sounds too. Really buttery low end and smooth highs. And to my surprise the beast has so much growl.

I did the unforgivable though and set the action a bit lower than how Jimmy sets them. I play on the soft side haha.

Yeah, I set my RA stupidly low.

These instruments can give you those amazing action like Alembic, Fodera, Sadowsky and al.

I've been digging deeper lately (and spending less time over the bridge pickup...) so I might have to rethink my setup but, It's great to know that it's there if you want it (...play with a feather touch and left hand economy of movement).

Mine is SN 009
He did a few jazz basses first....
He built a few early ones in the late 90s. MOSTLY Guitars.. I pushed and pushed him to make basses.. Jimmy is guitar player and he didn't have any interest in making basses at that time. India Ari and Nile Rodgers from Chic have his early guitars.
I rode him and pushed for a few years then he made a few basses. One of the 1st ones was a DAKOTA RED jazz bass.. .

My KBP4 and John from Duran Durans were the first 2 p basses. Same lot of wood. His and mine are the only 2 p basses with the reddish African RW fingerboards. I think there is a JAzz bass or two with the same African RW..

I think throughout these last three, maybe four years I've gotten a bit more comfortable with raising the action a bit, especially because the ear can hear a clear difference in overall tone. But it sure is nice to be able to play faster, easier with crazy low action.

Btw I can't get rid of slight fret buzz on the A string in the 15th fret. Not that I'm playing there a whole lot, but I can't get it to go away. I know it's something I did. I hate messing with the truss rod. It seems like it's not a big deal but it ends up being a very meticulous task. Any advice anyone?
