So Matt, which did you finally pick? I don't suppose it would work to put both colors on one bass and call it Creamsicle. Naaah. I just need one of each. But which to start with?

I ordered my LG5, 3TS/Nitro finish/Indian Rosewood on Valentine's Day, Feb 14th, 2008.
I did however make one small change to the order. I asked Jimmy to add FB Binding for a '66 transition vibe. Not sure how much that will affect my delivery time. I am just happy I have an LG5 in the queue. I'm guessing it's gonna be late August/September time frame. But who knows? Could come sooner. ??? ... or later. I'm trying to be patient since it gives me more time to sock away the balance due in the meantime.
Yeah, that's what I'm shooting for too, Gary.
I'm curious, more than anything, to find out so I know when to have the balance.
PS: I am guessing when it comes time to make a decision, I will opt for Jimmy's bent plate bridge. But who knows? Those Hipshots are just so well made, easy to adjust, and install/remove strings. Things that still make me go hmmm????

Steve, I went with the Aged Oly White w/ matching headstock...as was the style at the time.
Back in Club AC part 1, the paul turner style aged oly white was the #1 finish, then 3TS gained popularity. On stage, I'd image the CAOJ is a stunner, while the white is classy. It's up to you bro, you can't go wrong!

I LOVE the Oly White/Tort PG vibe. To me, that is a timeless, classy look!
As cool as the Candy Apple Electric Orange Juice color is ( and I do like it), I can't help but wonder if I'd grow tired of it after a while? I am also guessing it "might" be harder to resell if and when the time came since it is a specialty color. Just playing devil's advocate to offer some counterpoint.

Everytime I see your Gold LM5, I think that is the ultimate color for a maple Fingerboard. I like the color with rosewood. But it's just ok. But with a maple fingerboard, I LOVE that color Gold. It just works. It's got that Feng shui thing going on or something.

Hi Ace. For the record, I think your AC is awesome. It's just one of those colors that for 'me', I'm just not sure if I would tire of it? Especially without seeing it in person. It would probably knock me out in a good way. I guess in my old age, I'm just more of a purist.
As a frame of reference, I love Candy Apple Red basses, especially ones with matching headstocks. But I don't think I'd ever choose one, or buy one for "me." Yet they are awesome and I admire them when I see them. You know?
I do know Gary..............I was all about Gold at fist, then Oly White, and then I decided I wanted something diffrent that I had never seen before.......When I ordeed it, I was second guessing the hell out of myself, but when I got it, I knew I made the right choice for me..I'm a little wied myself, so it's only natural that I went with a color that's a little weird..... It's funny.......now when I get gigs from e-mails, people always ask :"Are you the guy with the Orange bass?" or "Can you bring you Orange bass?"....
.....I haven't gotten tired of it so far...you seem bent on that Oly White, though...and as you can tell from Mike and Matt's pictures, ain't nothin' wrong with that.....

I had been second-guessing my choice of the Candy Apple OJ for my KPB4. I really liked the color initially on Jimmy's website, but then some pictures I've seen on here with different lighting make the color look a bit different. But, I decided to stick with it so I'm glad to here all the positive reaction from everyone who's seen it in person. Now if October could hurry up and get here...

But for the LG, nothing really does it for me like the 3-tone, tort, and a nearly black rosewood board... at the time, I really thought I'd be getting the first one like that. Then about two weeks later, Mitch posted his pictures up here. Then Tom received his 4, etc. . .
I actually considered that Surf Green one for a minute when it first went up for sale on Jimmy's site. I remember him saying it was really "old" sounding -
Two more quick points of interest: Ken, I've never, EVER like gold basses... but that thing just screams classy to me. Me likey! Also, I went with the bent-plate and couldn't be happier. I like some sustain at times and I know the Hipshots do that very well, so I had some initial reservations. But this thing just completes the old-school package beautifully. It still have plenty of sustain, but this thing punches too! It's perfect! For the LM-5 I'd go Hipshot or Badass for sure, but on an LG, gotta go bent plate.

Does anyone know size of off-set phillips that adjusts rod? I saw short thread on where to get tool but not best size (I am bad at measuring).
Is it crazy to get a passive Standard J-4? I know Marco says active jazz but there was an old picture of a 3TB passive that looked great and the celebrity white played by WJ on web.

I find that using a large flat blade is easier than a philips.
I also found a "Z" shaped screw driver at home depot for about $1 that does the trick.. it had two heads and bent at 90 degrees on each end and is offset... over the years i found a flat blade with a large head is less likely to strip the truss rod slots...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo...........an LS.....quite a rarity around here.....I have a multi-tipped screwdriver (straight) that does the job actually......it's probably the easiest to find at a home depot.....other than that, maybe Matt will chime in and tell you about his.......A passive standard is NEVER a bad idea, it just seems to be highly recommended to put a preamp in because Jimmy's pre is so clear.....
Huge +1! I have 1 of these Z shaped drivers in my bag and would not use anything else. Mine has a Philips head on one side and a flat head on the other. I used the flat side personally for just this reason. I have to say that I have only needed it once or twice when I initially got the bass but it is nice to know I have it IF I need it!
