Hey Everyone,

I have a pretty decent recording of my LG5 on the job with a group I played with earlier this year. Hopefully the above link works! It's a direct board mix from a live concert in a giant classical concert hall, so they had me EQ'd a little weird to compensate for the boomy room (ie. some low end pulled out, so it's a tad "toppy"). The mix is pretty hilarious since I seem to be turned up to 11 and the bigband almost sounds like an afterthought, but I'm not complaining! : ) The chart is called "F.M.", written by none other than Lyle Mays. Hope ya'll enjoy it!

p.s. sry you have to actually download the MP3. i have no clue what website to use to make it pop up and play.

First, great song, great playing, and great growly tone. What were your settings? Sounds pretty heavily favored towards the bridge, maybe a bit of bass boost? Also, I didn't have to download the MP3. It played just fine from the site.

Great playing but we knew that already! You're coaxing some pretty heavy tones outta that bass and I'm diggin' it big time.

Thanks Vic and Bernie! It was an awesome group to play with and the leader was a bass player so the charts were fantastic for the rhythm section.

For that particular show, if I remember correctly, I actually went active (which is rare) because of the slap solo breakdown attempting to channel the spirit of Marcus Miller, there...lol.

You nailed the EQ perfectly: bridge favored with a hint of bass boost. During the slap section, I turned the bridge pickup to full blast for a little extra fullness, but I don't think it really comes across that way on the recording.

My LG never lets me down in the tone department!

Yeah, I heard you bring the neck in and take it back out again. Gotta' have that full blend for slap.

Yeah. "F.M." was nominated for a best jazz composition grammy in 1975. I think the original recording bass(impossible to find outside of the UNT library ) was done on a Precision. P-bass and big band, now there is a rare combination!

Great playing, Pocket. I would not have guessed that to be an AC after hearing the recording...Sounds slightly more modern to me than I'd expected, knowing it was an AC. Really dug the finger tone...slap tone not so much.
