Hey Tom,

How've you been man?
You should actually ask Jimmy what he would call it.
(He's back in the shop this week, btw)
The Heartbreaker fits into the "1600" description, but there have only been 2 Walnut top basses that I know of, yours & Francisco Centeno's (who has the same bass with an oil finish). The top is what makes it custom.
Whatever you call it, she sounds great.
Hope you're enjoying her.

I have your Tony Coleman clip playing from your site as I type this. That is just massively smokin'... tone, groove, everything. Yeah man:bassist: I love that clip!

Thanks man ... I also love this clip ... FYI: It helps to flirt with the lady promoter ... one day i got an email asking for my mailing address & a few weeks later the dvd of that show arrived.
My LG 5 was less than a year old at this point and what a great test drive for it ... 4 weeks of gigs in Italy.
The pickups were still Jimmy's prototypes & were basically the same pickup in both positions. The bass also had a badass II bridge, smaller, non traditional tuners and DR Red Devil strings.
"Broke & Hungry" has been one of my favorite tunes for years & I had never met anyone who played it until Tony's band ... I definitely put a little something extra on that groove.
I'm psyched to have documentation of the progress of an amazing instrument.

Thanks for all of your great input regarding Alleva Coppolo ... i know that Jimmy really appreciates it.

I can personally confirm this as the owner of about as basic of an LG model as you can get. :)

Yes, it has 70s positioning, alder body, rosewood finger board, and I should have photographed the plate on the back... it has "Heart Breaker" etched on the serial number plate along with the serial number.

I definitely am enjoying her... I've even grown to like those crazy coated strings! :) And I can't play her without thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. California treating you okay? My sons are anxious for basketball season to start again, yours? :hmm:

When I stop being so lazy (which could be awhile), I'm going to try Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats on her (EADGC) and see what that gives me. I'm just really enjoying getting to know her.

+1 As beautiful as some of the fancy, schmancy upgraded models are, the basic LG and LM are just the bees knees. A perfectly executed 'classic' instrument at an (IMO... everything is relative) reasonable price.

I'm well Tom, thanks.
Not a big fan of California, i have to say.
I did, however, just score a gig through a friend in NYC.
I'm doing the new Broadway touring production of the musical "Dreamgirls".
I head back to NYC in Oct to rehearse, then 5 weeks at the Apollo theatre, then hit the road until further notice.

I guess i never plan on selling them off. so if they get scratches it doesn't matter..
now if i were smart.. and i do say "IF".. i would do the right thing and put them in stands. I did say IF..:D

That's what I'm talking about! That's one of the reasons I love these basses. They are designed to be working instruments for working players, but yet have 'Fodera/MTD' quality (IMO and IME). Bang 'em up a bit and they just get better. Awesome shot.

BTW I don't know if it's going to be a signature name but I believe the P bass bodied jazz was made for Willie Weeks "Y'all".

Which I think is genius because I like that body more than the Jazz.I like to rest my forearm on the "Non" contour. Plus if you lean it against the wall it doesn't fall over!!
