Again, so people's heads don't start to spin, for all practical purposes the base LG, LM or KBP (the 'classics') will make almost anyone who likes a more traditional tone quite happy at a 'relatively high but reasonable' price. IMO.

Well, my 'ead is spinning. I can't find the price on the website for the L5Basic. I was thinking that would be sweet in sonic blue.

Not sure about the exact pricing. It's significantly lower than, for example, the equivalent Sadowsky NYC spec, but not sure of the exact price (i.e., $3,000, $3,200, $3,300, $3,500... not sure). My two most recent A-C purchases were used, and both basses had some 'upgrades'.

Thanks K, that works. Ballpark is good to see where the target is. Lay in wait for the used is always the best strategy in my book.

Again, just guessing on those prices. It's been a while since I bought my new LM.

The 'problem' with the used models is that it seems a lot of guys do significant upgrades on the A-C's, so many of the used LG's (which seem to be the ones that come up most... the classic 60's style instruments) are spec'd out so that the used price is actually more than a more basic new model. For example, my LG has a Nitro finish and a matching headstock. That is a pretty hefty price upgrade, so I paid more used for that bass (it was in perfect 'as new' condition) than some who purchased a stock, base LG new (I just had to have the green:D).

Anyway, hopefully Jimmy will put up a price list as he builds that website, so everyone knows at least what the 'minimum price of entry' is on these basses.

You're absolutely right about those used prices! :eek: The upgrades look sweet and I definitely like a mathcing headstock, but not a deal breaker. I think a basic LG5 in Sonic Blue would be really sweet.

Hopefully he'll put the prices up so I want waste his build time with tire kicking.
