WOW bigred that bass absolutely smokes...

I am soooo happy I got to play that bad boy last Saturday at the SoCal Bass Hang... Wow! Not a bad first A-C to play

The last thing I need in my life is to GAS for one of these... Too late.

And Jimmy Coppolo is one heck of a nice and classy guy... He's so great that the basses being as good as they are is almost secondary. I could tell how passionate and excited he is of the craft of bass making.

I'm making a few last considerations before placing an order for my own,(unless in the unlikely event the previously posted 4-string sunburst jazz comes up for sale soon) and I'd like to ask you A.C. owners a question.
How are the harmonics, not just natural, but also false 'harmies', on your A.C.'s?
As I'm sure some of you have noticed, Fender Jazz basses harmonics tend to sing out more easily than on a lot of other basses,(including my Sadowsky). Various reasons I know, but how are the Alleva Coppolo's in this regard?(with flat eq)

Wonderful! Just like Fenders, the A-C's (in general) have more mid mids and upper mids to their inherent tone versus the much more modern, wide Sadowsky tone (although a Sadowsky with single coils and the blend just 5% toward the bridge is a beautiful thing for those who use harmonics also).

You won't have any issues IMO.

Transparent Butterscotch Blonde with a mint pickguard

Man that always seems to make me hungry!

He's thinking I'm about 2 months out still so I have time to change my mind, which I don't think I will. He has not done a bass in that color but he has done teles like that, so I'm gonna have a pretty unique bass. I'm guessing some will love it and others will hate it! All I care is that it is a killer playing and sounding bass.

Jimmy just sent me these future web site pics of my new LM5.
I'm all for the vintage look too (my LG5 takes care of that), but I don't believe that the grain needs a natural finish to look good.
I'm lovin' the trans red.

And with good reason, that trans red looks GREAT!

Love that "Bigg Redd" inlay as well. How cool.

Just for the heck of it, here's another quick clip of the RA5, this time with relatively new DR Lo Rider Nickels through the TC RH450 head and the Bergantino AE410.

It still sounds like the RA (clicky up top and punchy down low), but the TC head and Berg 'dirty it up' a touch more versus the extremely pure, crisp tone of the TecAmp rig on the last clip.

Just FYI. It again is a unique sounding spec... clickier and more trebley than the LG, but tighter and with less growl and grind than the LM. However, I like it with this rig a lot, and that rather bright, clicky top end sounds pretty good in a mix.

I'm still coming to terms with it a bit... trying different strings, etc. When I play the LG or the LM, they just seem perfect to me, one sounding like many early alder/RW J basses (warm and woody and smooth), and the other sounding like a more 70's ash/maple 'funky' J bass (grindy, big down low, a bit gritty with a lot of upper mid presence). The RA sounds good, but emphasizes the 'warm lows and the clean click', which is a strange combination to me. I assume again this is due to the unique combination of a moderate weight alder body, 70's pickup placement, and that glossy finished maple board.

However, I've had it on a bunch of gigs, and most of the guys I play with dig it... very articulate, not huge down low, but full and fat, and the top end does slice its way out to the audience.

I'm looking forward to cranking up the RH450 with it this weekend!

Thanks! I dig it too for the most part, and again, while it sounds a 'bit much' solo, that upper treble response really sounds pretty darn nice in a mix. It plays like a DREAM... low action, totally stable neck, no peaks or dips, and a B string that is a nice logical extension to the E... very even from the open E on down.

My TB buddy Eublet raved about the RH450 so much that I decided to try one out. So far, it is a very impressive unit... great tuner, GREAT compressor, very useful and powerful tone controls, and a 'tubey' type tone that I haven't really heard out of other micro's. Kind of like a 'fat' LMII type tone. Pretty cool, and lot's of buttons and lights

[Laughing!] Yeah, well those lights are brilliant (yes, pun intended) on a dark stage. I wish everyone would wake up to that style of control on an amp.

More on topic with this thread though, I imagine the RH450 is a great companion to Alleva Coppolo basses. From what I can see, most of the demoing and showing off of the amps feature exactly this vibe of bass.

Yes, it's true, I have a trans/blonde with a parchment guard on the way, BUT, if I keep it, I'll be most likely switching to a tort guard, SO THERE! NYAH!!!

Likely story my friend

I know a lot of you guys are also Sadowsky owners, funny thing is my office is only 30 minutes from the shop and I have yet to buy one. I am sure I will join in on the fun at some point. What radius do you guys prefer on the NYC JJ basses? And what get's you closest to the feel of your AC?

EDIT: 1 7/8 width at the nut and a 10" radius ?
