I agree that's killer. I had found quite a few teles I was hoping to find a jazz.

That trans blonde I posted up wasn't so bad either:D

Depends what vintage you're talking about, in least "in *my* mind"

the timeline in my head runs roughly like this (and only in terms of black v white):
early 50s: trans+black
later 50's: trans+white
60's: mixed bag
70's: black


this is only fender, only basses, and only in my realm of personal preference; and factors out tort.

tort is like, ya know, pretty much always good.

They are similar, which is maybe why I like that color combination so much!

I took a look at some of those Telecaster pictures with the black guards, and it looks better than I remembered. I still dig the mint/white better though.

The other thing I've found with black guards (minor issue) is that if you dig in or slap a bit, you can REALLY see the slap swirl, etc. Again, not a big deal, but the mint/white stays new looking for years and years.

I guess that would suggest that the black guard with the LM would be more 'period appropriate' if that was important.

I sure do like that color!

Yeah, black always shows wear more, but I'd still choose it first on this finish myself. Strangely tho, on shoreline gold, I'm not so sure, but on trans blonde, no question... for me. :)

I totally love it. Thanks for the photo Vic and thanks Ken for the mint idea I was thinking black originally.

I went ahead and emailed Jimmy along with a copy of this photo, so I can stop being a pain in the but about this stupid color choice stuff!

Now I really can't wait!

BTW - I apologize the the mod and anyone I offended (I see my transparent blonde was removed)....Sorry..

Jimmy just sent me these future web site pics of my new LM5.
I'm all for the vintage look too (my LG5 takes care of that), but I don't believe that the grain needs a natural finish to look good.
I'm lovin' the trans red.

WOW!

And yeah, as long as you can see the grain, it's all good, and really, I dig the trans colors a lot. Especially blue and red, but also sometimes green.

Got a chance to hear TB'er Basseroni kill with her LM5 today as I sat in on her rehearsal. I also had a chance to hear her play through her rig with a few other basses and the LM5 was my favorite of the night in the mix. I think part of it is that the LM5 just sounds like she's assimilated that as an extension of her arms and hands. Also, I think her Aggie rig is the perfect complement for the bass. The other basses sound equally as good with other rigs, but tonight belonged to the LM5. Nice stuff.

I hope you all get a chance to hear her play outside of the Youtube clips she posted earlier. She's got some serious skills that you need to hear.
