Get a MONO case and be done! Best double out there! 2 SEPARATE pockets for the basses and a really cool neck support system. I just got the MONO DJ bag TODAY to put all my other road gear to fly with and it is THE BOMB...I can get EVERYTHING I need including my spares and even my TC Electronic RH450 in the Double Bag and the DJ Bag...I have had pretty much everything and these are the Schizzle...I prefer the IGIG if you need a single because it fits everything you need in one bag more or less and is a bit more protected for a single (at least it feels that way to me) EITHER of them is KILLER but the MONO is the best Double PERIOD!!! Not even a contest between the MONO and the Dub Bag...I can not suggest them enough! A lot of pros are using them now...

Hey everyone, I sent an email to Jimmy asking this question and have not heard back, I assume he is building your basses!!

Anyway, can someone tell me what the difference is between the 'basic' and 'standard' models? Specifically the LG5...

Any help would be appreciated!

Basic....

This is the entry level of our LG series. We use a plain straight grain maple neck with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. The neck is painted in a satin polyurethane finish. The body is made of alder with 60’s pickup spacing and painted in your choice of our standard color “thin skin” polyurethane finishes. Our home made Alleva-Coppolo pickups and Alleva-Coppolo Preamp with the electronic layout being volume/volume/ passive tone/ treble boost/ bass boost. Hipshot hardware your choice of parchment three ply, mint three ply or black three ply pick guard.


Standard

The neck is painted in your choice clear or tinted, satin or gloss, polyurethane finish. The body is made of alder with 60’s pickup spacing and painted in your choice of standard or metallic “thin skin” polyurethane finishes with or without matching headstock. Our home made Alleva-Coppolo pickups and Alleva-Coppolo Preamp with the electronic layout being volume/volume/ passive tone/ treble boost/ bass boost. Hipshot hardware, your choice of “faux” tortoiseshell, pearloid, parchment three ply, mint three ply or black three ply pick guard.

Yeah, and the price diff is pretty small between the basic and standard, which makes sense. For example, the vintage tint for the neck, and the tort guard were upgrades when I ordered mine, now they're just included for the "Standard" model, which is essentially what mine became.

Clearly, there were enough people ordering basses with the same choices I made that he made it a standard config... literally. :)

I think it's literally just the option for the vintage tint (which I selected) and the gloss vs the satin (which I didn't select... I prefer satin). He used to charge a little extra for the tint. I'm not sure about satin vs gloss.

I'm not sure if he charges more for the satin or clear, but it's an option on the Standard where you can only get satin on the basic (I actually prefer satin, so I guess that's moot point).

I prefer satin as well and I'd be just looking for a black pickguard so it looks like the basic model would work well for me.

Hey Everybody,

I've been in direct contact with Jimmy the past couple of days, and he mentioned that he will be un-officially closed from Nov 20th to the 30th to ramp up production in preparation for the 2010 NAMM show, he will be forwarding calls to voicemail, and auto replying to emails,
HOWEVER, he did say that he will try to answer emails and voicemails as time allows.

Hang in there gang, a little patients, and everything should return to normal in a few days.... :bassist:

Yeah, I figured that was the case which is why I came to the experts here. You guys know more about his stuff than I do and answered my questions, so I appreciate all of the input!

The Bass that was created for THE RA model, Ruben Rodriguez's RA5, #001, I was fortunate enough to acquire this beauty, I recieved this thing yesterday, and I am finally able to put her down to give my fingers a rest...:D
