Just got home to find I am now officially the owner of one of these beautiful basses. Admittedly, much more stunning in person than I was expecting. But it's midnight and I have to go to bed, argh, then work tomorrow aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh... that's gonna be the longest day ever. I'll get pics up as soon as possible :bassist:

Must fight the urge to chuck a sickie

+1... remind me of the spec of this again. Is this the EU or whatever with different body woods, pickups, preamp, etc? Or is it a stock LM? Either way, it looks sweet. I love these 'pastel' colors with light boards!

The EUT5 is Jimmy's export only line.
The body is Primavera, which I found to be a lot like alder with more mids. It had a bit more mid range bite than an LG.
Jimmy did 2 for winter NAMM this past January: red, maple neck/rosewood board, 60's spacing & blue, maple neck/maple board, 70's spacing.
Pickups, Pre-amp & Hardware are the same as the rest of the models.

Cool. I know there were a few posts about him thinking about different preamps, etc.

So, from your description, that bass should sound relatively similar to my RA (maple, alder, 70's spacing). Cool! That's a unique tone that I like quite a bit. Beautiful instrument.

Slick Round

Nickel-iron alloy round wound, ground on the outer surface for a super smooth feel. Sound is fat and brighter than flat wound strings. Silk wrapped at both ends to protect your valuable hardware.

Compressors

Nickel-iron alloy round wound. The outer winding is compressed to an oval shape just before being wound on the string. Crisp and brilliant sound with a smoother than round wound feel. Silk wrapped at both ends to protect your valuable hardware.

HI

I'm happy to hear you considering Smiths... I LOVE mine

They seem to have 2 strings that sit in between. I went with the slick rounds more "towards flats."

Curious what you'll think!
