Club Alleva Coppolo (Part 9)

This brings me to the question...Not being able to listen to all of you AC owners sound clips/vids/etc., I was wondering what type of music you all mainly play/gig.

I have an LM5 (the one pictured in my avatar) and these days I'm playing mostly traditional jazz, funk, contemporary jazz (aka smooth jazz), r&b, neo soul, latin, reggae, urban gospel, praise and worship and some rock.

I also have a Musicman Stingray 5 HH that gets NO gig time since the LM5 has been around. I even tuned it E-C but I still won't take it out of the house unless I'm doing a lead bass tune on a gig which is VERY rare.

Here's the latest report from the Alleva Coppolo shop. There are gonna be lots of surprises at the NAMM show! Jimmy's got about 26 basses for the show and most of them are still available for sale. There will be LM's, RA's, LG's, KBP's and new stuff!

My custom bass has been replaced with a new bass! I fell in love with this one when Jimmy was showing us the NAMM basses this afternoon. My LG5 Standard has been put on hold for now since this one is gonna be ready to go at NAMM.

Specs:

Spalted Alder body
Maple Neck with binding
1940's Dalbergia Negra (Brazilian Rosewood) fingerboard
AC pickups and preamp
Nitro finish

This bass is a little over the top compared to my original LG5 Standard since this has a spalted alder body, Brazilian Rosewood board, neck binding, and nitro finish. I fell in love with it when I saw it and could not resist! We just connected right there.

More pics to come as soon as Jimmy finishes the bass. So this bass is one the NAMM surprises...

OMG that is unreal, I so want a LG5 with a DN board did Jimmy have others spec'd that way?

WOW! Nice! I need something like that.. I bet that spalted alder will be nice and light too?? And i like that 66 dots and binding look..

Hey guys,

Thanks for the words on my bass. I can't wait til its done!

Jimmy's got a bunch of spalted alder in the shop all stacked up and ready to go. Next time I'm at the shop, I'll shoot some pics of the pieces. My buddy Ed changed the body to spalted alder instead of the regular alder on his RA5. The spalted alder is something. Very light, dry, got killer grain, and it is perfect with the 2 tone burst!

There's gonna be a 4-string spalted alder bass at NAMM. The finish is exactly the same as mine. I'm not sure about the neck and fingerboard on it though. I'm gonna be at NAMM setup on the 13th so I will take pics of everything that's there for everyone here on TB.

Merry 2010 to Jimmy and Co; and all youse guys too!

I know what I'll be playing all three nights this weekend:
